Myth: It’s too late to plan a getaway anywhere good this Labor Day weekend using points.

Fact: There are still some appealing vacation rental properties out there in places like South Lake Tahoe, Breckenridge and the Florida Keys — not to mention hotels with Labor Day weekend availability across the country — that you can book on points for a Labor Day weekend stay.

Fanned by the pandemic, the boom in vacation rentals hasn’t shown any sign of relenting. And we’ve taken deep dives on the various ways you can use points to book your next vacation rental, cashing in Chase Ultimate Rewards, Marriott Bonvoy points, Wyndham Rewards, World of Hyatt points and others in exchange for a stay that most likely promises more room to spread out than your standard hotel room.

If you’re still trying to figure out how to sneak away affordably this Labor Day weekend and have some points to burn, sites like Vacasa (Wyndham Rewards members can redeem points to stay at any Vacasa vacation rental), Homes & Villas by Marriott and Destination by Hyatt Residences still show inventory at locations across the country.

Looking for inspiration on where to start? Below, we've rounded up nine vacation rentals you can book on points this Labor Day weekend.

Points: 273,622 Marriott Bonvoy points for three nights or 135,000 Wyndham Rewards points for three nights when booked through Vacasa (Wyndham Rewards stays are calculated at 15,000 per bedroom in the vacation rental/per night)

You can use Wyndham Rewards or Marriott Bonvoy points for a Labor Day weekend stay along Texas’s Gulf Coast at Crystal Beach, about 1.5 hours from Houston.

A Family Tradition is a three-bedroom/two-bath home just a short stroll from the sand with a spacious deck as well as a covered patio beneath the home with a picnic table and bench-style swing for hanging out.

2-bedroom cabin in North Carolina’s Nantahala National Forest

Points: 90,000 Wyndham Rewards points for three nights when booked through Vacasa.

Roughly three hours from both Atlanta and Charlotte, this mountain escape listed on Vacasa and bookable with Wyndham Rewards in North Carolina's Nantahala National Forest is available over Labor Day weekend and puts hiking and fly fishing at your doorstep. Big on cozy touches, the log cabin-style Baloo’s Mountain Cabin has a wood-burning fireplace and a huge wraparound deck with views of a gurgling creek.

In addition to the two king suites, an additional loft area has two separate sleeping areas, so you can sleep up to nine people in total. Downtown Franklin’s shopping and dining is eight miles away.

2-bedroom townhouse near Breckenridge, Colorado

Points: 312,425 Marriott Bonvoy Points for three nights or 90,000 Wyndham Rewards points for three nights when booked through Vacasa.

Just four miles from downtown Breckenridge, Baldy Townhouse makes for a chill Labor Day weekend escape, situated under a large canopy of pine trees and with a big wraparound deck for staging a barbecue on the gas grill.

Dogs are welcome and the Summit Stage bus stops just a short stroll away, so you can park your car and use Breck’s free public transport to get around town.

3-bedroom desert getaway in Greater Palm Springs

Points: 135,000 Wyndham Rewards points for three nights when booked through Vacasa.

In a quiet neighborhood in Greater Palm Springs (less than three hours from San Diego and Los Angeles), Casa Cinco sleeps eight people in three bedrooms and has a sweet little pool for cooling off from the blazing desert sun. There’s a hot tub, too, but that might be a stretch, even after dark, considering how warm it is this time of year.

Nearby attractions include the Bear Creek Nature Trail, which winds for nearly five miles through a protected preserve, walkable La Quinta Village, with its many restaurants and boutiques, and several golf courses, too.

2-bedroom Oceanfront Townhouse in the Florida Keys

Points: 90,000 Wyndham Rewards points for three nights when booked through Vacasa.

The Florida Keys get seriously packed during Labor Day weekend. But you can book into your own little quiet corner on the waterfront at Duck Key Retreat Villa #5105, located between Islamorada and Marathon and still showing availability for Labor Day weekend stays.

The two-story townhouse, remodeled just this year, has a patio and upstairs terrace that both have water views. A sandy beach is a short walk away.

The location is a good base for day trips to Key West (less than 1.5 hours south) or Key Largo, just an hour north. And there are plenty of local attractions--and snorkeling and fishing charters--around the immediate area, too, to keep you busy.

3-bedroom house with mountain views in South Lake Tahoe

Points: 135,000 Wyndham Rewards points for three nights when booked through Vacasa.

If views of Mt. Heavenly from your deck sound like Labor Day weekend heaven to you, then Livin’ The Tahoe Dream in South Lake Tahoe might just be the last-minute holiday weekend escape you’re looking for.

The three-bedroom house sleeps nine people comfortably and has a pool table, gas fireplace and outdoor hot tub, too. There are even three bikes available for guests to use during a stay.

2-bedroom condo in Snowmass Village

Points: From 39,000 World of Hyatt Points per night

Spend your Labor Day weekend hiking, mountain biking and day-tripping to hot springs around the Aspen/Snowmass area when you stay in a two-bedroom condominium at Top of the Village, a Destination by Hyatt Residence property in Snowmass Village.

The property’s two-bedroom premier condos have gas fireplaces, balconies equipped with a gas barbecue and full kitchens for saving money on meals in--all just a short stroll from the complimentary shuttle that takes you all around Snowmass Village, too.

2-bedroom condo on Kaanapali Beach in Hawaii

Points: Three-night Labor Day weekend stays from 343,395 Marriott Bonvoy points or 90,000 Wyndham Rewards points for three nights when booked through Vacasa.

Stay oceanfront at Kaanapali Shores 361, a two-bedroom condo in the Kaanapali Shores Resort community on Maui that gives guests access to onsite amenities like two swimming pools, hot tubs, a gym and a restaurant with ocean views.

When you’re not hitting Maui’s famous hangouts for a shave ice or touring the Road to Hana, you can just kick it at your condo’s spacious lanai with something frosty and sweeping ocean views.

6-bedroom beach house in Isle of Palms, South Carolina

Points: 991,743 Marriott Bonvoy points for three nights

Looking to escape with a crowd to the South Carolina coast on points? A block from Isle of Palms beach, the six-bedroom Sea Shell might fit the bill for your crew.

The home has a rooftop deck with sunset view and multiple seating areas to host a crowd and can sleep up to 14 guests. Charleston and all its historic sites and fabulous restaurants are less than 45 minutes away. But it’s easy to spend your whole time on the barrier island--enjoying the beach, boardwalk and relaxed vibe of Isle of Palms.
