One of my favorite benefits of this card (and others in this suite) is getting 15% off award redemptions on Delta Air Lines flights. And do you know what pairs well with discounted award flights? How about 80,000 bonus miles, which you can earn after spending $3,000 on eligible purchases in the first six months of card membership?
I also love that this card comes with a statement credit of up to $100 each calendar year for hotels booked with Delta Stays. It’s great for when you’re booking a hotel that’s outside your preferred loyalty program (think: independent boutiques, bed-and-breakfast establishments, etc.) and want to earn rewards and save some money.
And, true to form, the value scales up with the more expensive cards in the Delta Amex portfolio.
If you fly Delta frequently and want more premium benefits, the Delta SkyMiles® Reserve American Express Card will get you those same perks, plus even more statement credits, a boost toward earning Medallion elite status, and a highly valuable annual companion certificate upon renewal (requires payment of taxes and fees) that’s valid on select flights in the U.S., the Caribbean and Central America. These easily offest this card’s $650 annual fee (see rates and fees).
Oh, and the welcome bonus on this card is even bigger. Currently, you can earn 100,000 bonus miles after you spend $6,000 on eligible purchases in your first six months of card membership. This is worth a whopping $1,200, according to our September 2024 valuations!
And here’s one more kicker: With the Reserve, you also get access to Delta Sky Club and American Express Centurion lounges when traveling on a Delta-operated or Delta-marketed flight.* If you’re a frequent flyer, I don’t need to tell you just how valuable that can be.
Just know that the elevated offers on these cards won’t be around forever — they are only available until Oct. 23. Here are some more resources to help you gauge the value of these cards for yourself.
*Beginning in February 2025, Delta Sky Club access will be limited to 15 free annual visits, and you can earn unlimited annual access after spending $75,000 on the card in a calendar year.
