Historically, we’ve told you the best way to use those Chase points for maximum value is to transfer them to hotel and airline partners. And that’s still a tremendous use and how I booked the newly opened Secrets St. Lucia all-inclusive resort for 21,000 Hyatt points per night, as one example. Not to mention how great transfers can be to book some fancy flights.
A new way to maximize your points
But now, the new Chase Points Boost feature is something you absolutely need to have on your radar. It can raise the value of your Chase points without you having to transfer them or rely on award availability.
While it isn’t available on every flight or hotel booking, I’ve been thrilled with using it for the hotel stays I’ve found. For example, I’m going to Disneyland in Anaheim, California, and there are 27 Points Boost-eligible properties. I booked a stay at the JW Marriott for two nights, which would have cost 170,000 Marriott points if I had transferred points at a 1:1 ratio from Chase to my Bonvoy account.
But now I can do much better.
Since that hotel is available not only via Points Boost but also as part of Chase’s The Edit hotel collection, I can book that very same two-night stay for just under 30,000 points per night and get a $100 property credit and free daily breakfast for two with The Edit benefits. I’ll also earn Marriott points and elite status for the stay, making this a truly outstanding new way to use and earn points and perks.
If you get the limited-time 100,000-point bonus available with the Sapphire Reserve right now and use it via Points Boost, it is very easily worth $2,000, plus you also get that special $500 travel credit.
Or, if you get the 200,000-point bonus with the Sapphire Reserve for Business after you spend $30,000 on purchases in your first six months from account opening, that’s $4,000 in travel if used this way.
