If you’re a planner like me, you’re probably already plotting your travels for next year. In need of inspiration? Look no further than TPG’s list of the most exciting places to visit in 2025.
I may have just joined TPG as its new senior travel editor a little more than four months ago, but TPG has been publishing this annual list since the site’s early days nearly 15 years ago. Yet this year is a little different. It’s officially our biggest list ever, with 29 destinations compiled by the expert travelers on TPG’s staff and our global network of freelancers.
These places include up-and-coming locales like Colombia’s Magdalena River, which will welcome its first major cruise line in March, as well as destinations making comebacks after significant disasters, like Maui, which is ready to welcome travelers back after a devastating 2023 wildfire.
Many of these destinations are also at the forefront of major travel trends. Go to Dominica to discover how the jungle-covered Caribbean island uses new models for sustainable tourism development, or head to Manitoba in Canada to see the northern lights during the “solar maximum” and participate in its burgeoning Indigenous tourism industry.
Of course, loyalty programs make these destinations more accessible than ever, so you can use your frequent flyer miles on United Airlines’ first-ever direct route from the U.S. to Greenland or spend hard-earned hotel points on nights at the dreamy new Waldorf Astoria Seychelles Platte Island.
As you use your points and miles to turn these ideas into realities, we hope you share your experiences with us in the year ahead.
