It wasn’t until I added a Delta Air Lines cobranded American Express card to my wallet that I finally understood the concept of “airline loyalty.” Prior to getting this card, I bounced between airlines every time I flew without giving much thought to the perks I could be missing out on.
Now, I stay loyal to Delta Air Lines because I get perks like free checked bags, priority boarding, a discount on inflight purchases and a 15% discount when I book award travel directly with Delta.
If you are new to the world of airline loyalty, the Delta SkyMiles Gold is a great place to start. This card has no annual fee (see rates and fees) and a welcome offer of 80,000 bonus miles after you spend $3,000 on eligible purchases in the first six months of card membership.
Based on TPG’s October 2024 valuations, that offer is worth $960. But you can stretch the value even further with Delta’s TakeOff 15 feature for award tickets. Your 80,000 miles are essentially equal to 92,000 miles when you redeem them for Delta flights. One-way business-class award redemptions start at 45,000 miles.
These limited-time offers end Wednesday, so you need to act fast.
