Frontier Airlines announced 20 new routes on Tuesday in an expansion that will add five new pins to the carrier’s route map.

Of the destinations joining Frontier’s network, four are international: Antigua & Barbuda; Belize City, Belize; Liberia, Costa Rica and Providenciales in the Turks and Caicos.

“Today’s announcement marks one of our largest international expansions ever and we are thrilled to now offer our customers affordable service to four more popular destinations offering both sun and fun,” Daniel Shurz, Frontier’s senior vice president of commercial, said in a statement.

The other new pin for Frontier’s map is Newburgh, New York – an alternate airport for the greater New York City area that's located about 65 miles north of Midtown Manhattan.

Frontier’s service to Newburgh's New York Stewart International Airport will launch Oct. 25 with nonstop service to Orlando. Two additional Florida routes – Miami and Tampa – begin Nov. 2.

But Frontier’s biggest expansion comes in Orlando, which gets 17 new routes in the carrier’s latest expansion. The additions range from international locales like Montego Bay, Jamaica, and Belize to smaller domestic cities such as Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Harlingen, Texas.

Interestingly, Frontier also is adding two intra-Florida routes from Orlando – including daily flights to Fort Myers and thrice-weekly service to Pensacola. Frontier will face competition on both routes. Southwest currently flies nonstop between Orlando and Fort Myers while Silver Airways flies the Orlando-Pensacola route.

More broadly, Frontier’s latest announcement extends an aggressive growth spurt that’s seen the airline add dozens of new routes to its network since spring.

“Summer 2021 has led to phenomenal growth for Frontier, and this announcement of 20 new routes comes on the heels of 21 that we unveiled just last week,” Shurz said in the carrier’s statement.

In May, Frontier added Burbank to its map as part of a broader expansion in Southern California.

And in April, Frontier rolled out five separate expansion announcements in less than two weeks that added 32 new routes and eight new cities.

From April: Frontier Airlines expands again, now up to 32 routes and 8 new cities in 2 weeks

Earlier in July: Frontier unveils 21 new routes from Atlanta, Las Vegas and DFW
