Disney Cruise Line's next ship to be named Treasure; line announces new sailings to South Pacific
If you've ever wished it was possible to sail to Fiji, Samoa or New Zealand with Disney Cruise Line, your wish is about to be granted. Disney Cruise Line just made some major announcements about its upcoming sixth ship, new itinerary plans for the existing fleet and what is going on at its planned second island in the Bahamas.
Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Chairman Josh D’Amaro announced at the massive D23 expo event in Anaheim, California, that the sixth ship coming to the Disney fleet will be known as Disney Treasure.

What we know about Disney Treasure
Currently scheduled to join the fleet in 2024, Disney Treasure will join Disney Wish as the second in a trio of "Triton Class" ships coming to Disney Cruise Line.
Based on renderings, Disney Treasure will feature a Grand Hall that leans into a palate of deep blues, turquoise and gold, with a design inspired by gilded palaces from faraway places such as Asia, Africa — and, yes, even the fictitious city of Agrabah from Disney's Aladdin.
Fittingly, the statue in the Grand Hall will feature Jasmine, Aladdin and Magic Carpet all ready to go on an adventure, which is the theme of this next ship.

Disney sets sail for the South Pacific
With the recent addition of Wish — and eventually Treasure — to the fleet, Disney is ready to set sail for new ports.
For the first time ever, Disney Cruise Line will sail to new destinations in the South Pacific on the Disney Wonder. On Oct. 13, 2023, Disney Wonder will embark on a 13-night voyage from Honolulu, Hawaii to Sydney, Australia. Ports of call along the way include Pago Pago, American Samoa; Lautoka, Fiji; Noumea and New Caledonia.
When the one-way positioning sailing goes on sale in early October 2022, the per-person pricing (based on double occupancy) starts at $2,392 for an inside stateroom and $4,030 for an oceanview stateroom with a veranda.
The Wonder will then serve destinations in New Zealand and Australia beginning in late October 2023 until it is ready to return to Hawaii on Feb. 16, 2024. That one-way, 15-night sailing from Sydney to Honolulu will include stops in Noumea, New Caledonia; Lautoka, Fiji; Pago Pago, American Samoa; and Kahului and Maui in Hawaii.

Work resumes on Disney's second island in the Bahamas
Disney first announced a new private island destination in Eleuthera, Bahamas, known as Lighthouse Point, back in 2019. However, progress on that project was stalled not only presumably by the pandemic, but also reportedly by local and environmental concerns.
However, the project is back underway. D'Amaro shared new renderings of the island that will include some similar amenities to the existing Castaway Cay destination, but constructed in a way that is said to protect and preserve the natural environment and showcase Bahamian culture and styling.
The official website for Lighthouse Point states that the island is currently slated to begin operations in the first half of 2024, though that was assuming an early 2022 construction start date. It's possible the current timeline will fall a bit later than that, depending on exactly when development resumed.

Bottom line
Until Wish set sail this year, Disney Cruise Line had not expanded its fleet in 10 years. This meant it was limited in the number of different itineraries it could offer with just its initial four ships. However, a new chapter for the cruise line has arrived with all-new ships, itineraries and destinations, which provides more chances for families to set sail.
