Celebration Key: Everything we know about Carnival Cruise Line’s newest private beach destination

Celebration Key is Carnival Cruise Line's massive private sun-and-fun playground tucked into the southern coast of Grand Bahama Island.
Following a massive $100 million pier expansion, up to four ships can now dock here at once — making it easier than ever to step off the gangway and directly onto the soft white sands, without ever needing a tender.
What to expect on shore
A day at Celebration Key serves up miles of white-sand beaches, two of the largest freshwater lagoons in the Caribbean, dozens of places to eat and drink, and a nonstop lineup of activities for toddlers, party-lovers and quiet-seekers alike.
At the heart of it all stands the Suncastle — a towering, 10-story, sandcastle-like structure with twin racing waterslides that shoot riders directly into the lagoon waters.
And getting around the area is easy. You can explore on foot via the wide paved walkways or hitch a ride on any one of the hop-on, hop-off trams.
Which cruise ships go there?
Nearly every Carnival ship in the fleet will dock at Celebration Key at some point, whether on a quick weekend trip to the Bahamas or a longer Caribbean sailing.
Ships depart from 10 U.S. home ports, including Miami; Port Canaveral, Florida; Galveston, Texas; New Orleans; Baltimore; Jacksonville, Florida; Norfolk, Virginia; Mobile, Alabama; Tampa; and New York City. So, you won't have to look hard to find an itinerary that stops here.
The lineup of Carnival ships includes:
- Excel-class ships: Mardi Gras, Carnival Celebration and Carnival Jubilee
- Vista-class ships: Carnival Horizon, Carnival Vista and Carnival Panorama
- Venice-class ships: Carnival Venezia
- Dream-class ships: Carnival Dream and Carnival Magic
- Conquest-class ships: Carnival Conquest, Carnival Glory, Carnival Freedom, Carnival Liberty and Carnival Pride
- Sunshine & Spirit-class ships: Carnival Sunrise, Carnival Sunshine, Carnival Legend and Carnival Spirit
- Fantasy-class ships: Carnival Elation and Carnival Paradise
Beginning in November 2026, Princess Cruises will also make a stop here, with Star Princess and Regal Princess first off the rank. In 2027, more ships will join, including:

German line AIDA Cruises will become the third Carnival Corporation line to stop at Celebration Key. AIDAluna is scheduled to make a visit Nov. 15, 2027, during a repositioning cruise from New York to the Dominican Republic.
The 5 Celebration Key portals: Which spot is right for you?
Celebration Key is divided into five color-coded areas known as "portals," each offering its own distinct atmosphere, family-friendly otto pool-party vibes to more laidback areas.
While a lot is included — like basic beach access, sun loungers and some casual dining options — upgrades like cabanas, access to Pearl Cove Private Beach Club, waterslide passes, specialty food and drinks, kayaks, snorkel gear and guided shore excursions all cost extra.
Here's what to know about each of Celebration Key's five portals and how to make the most of your day ashore.
Paradise Plaza: Best for booking activities
Every visit starts at Paradise Plaza. Step through the signature yellow sun arch and into a vibrant portal filled with music, a Bahamian-themed fountain and views of the Suncastle.
Guest services and the shore excursions desk are in this area. Stop there first if you need to lock in an excursion, pick up a beach wheelchair (available on a first-come, first-served basis), ask questions or simply work out where to spend your day.
You can also pick up an ice cream from Yumshine Scoops or last-minute beach supplies from the store. The plaza also hosts live entertainment. Look out for the high-energy Junkanoo performances featuring traditional Bahamian music, dancing and elaborate costumes.
From here, paved paths fan out toward the rest of Celebration Key — the family-friendly Starfish Lagoon, the lively Calypso Lagoon, the exclusive Pearl Cove Beach Club and the shops at Lokono Cove.
Starfish Lagoon: Best for families
Starfish Lagoon is made for families, with shallow swimming areas, splash zones and plenty of space for kids to burn off energy. Claim a lounge chair on the white-sand beach or along the lagoon's gently sloping entry.
Little ones naturally gravitate toward Guppy Grotto, a colorful splash playground complete with a tipping bucket and a shallow wading pool. There's shaded seating for parents taking a break from the sun.
For action out of the water, Starfish Lagoon has volleyball, basketball and pickleball courts, as well as a gaming pavilion packed with foosball, table tennis and cornhole.
Families looking to upgrade their beach day can splurge on a standard beachfront cabana or an overwater lagoon cabana that comes with a private waterslide and dedicated attendant service. You can even hire an AquaBana: a floating, shaded cabana anchored right near the Shoalmates Island Bar.
When hunger strikes, Gill's Grill serves full-service Caribbean-style fish, lobster, crab and shrimp alongside burgers, chicken and kids meals. Captain's Galley Food Hall dishes up burgers, hot dogs, fried chicken, pizza, Mediterranean bowls, tacos and burritos from five different counters. Meanwhile, casual food trucks and snack shacks serve quick-grab chicken sandwiches, wraps, salads, Bahamian sushi and mini donuts.
To quench your thirst, head to Lagoon Bar East on land or swim right up to the Parrotfish Swim-Up Bar for cocktails, mocktails and everything in between.
Calypso Lagoon: Best for a party vibe
If Starfish Lagoon is for families, Calypso Lagoon is where the volume gets turned up. Here you'll find DJs, a massive swim-up bar and an upbeat social scene that feels more resort pool than family beach day.
Sports courts are shared with Starfish Lagoon, and cabanas are available for those who want their own space. Like Starfish Lagoon, the portal offers beach, lagoon and floating cabana options for an additional fee.
Dining ranges from full-service to quick bites. Mingo's Tropical Bar and Kitchen serves fresh seafood, conch fritters, tacos, steak and sandwiches, while Surf N' Sauce BBQ and Brews specializes in slow-smoked meats and local Bahamian brews. Food trucks and snack shacks offer quick options like burgers, wraps and salads.
Long Necks Bar is the star attraction. One of the Caribbean's largest swim-up bars, it boasts more than 100 seats both in and out of the water. Sunshine Swings Bar takes a more relaxed approach, with over-water swing seats and cocktails. Lagoon Bar West has beers, wine and mixed drinks.
Pearl Cove Beach Club: Best for adults-only luxury
For a quieter, VIP-style beach day, head straight for the western end of the resort to Pearl Cove Beach Club. This is Celebration Key's most exclusive sanctuary, a luxury retreat reserved for adults 18 and over.
The mood shifts the minute you walk through the door. Gone are the loud party playlists and family splash zones. In their place, you'll find chilled lounge music, attentive staff and a sprawling 11,000-square-foot infinity pool overlooking a private stretch of sand. Days here revolve around poolside cocktails, ocean views and uninterrupted lounging on a private beach lined with plush sunbeds, cabanas and villas. An upscale restaurant and swim-up bar complete the resort-style experience.
Access is limited to guests who purchase one of three admission packages, all of which are best booked before sailing.
- Pearl Cove Beach Club Access: Club access plus welcome cocktail — $99.99 per person
- Pearl Cove Beach Club Open Bar: Club access plus open bar (up to 10 drinks) — $139.99 per person

Lokono Cove: Best for shopping
Lokono Cove offers a welcome break from the sun, blending shopping with local Bahamian culture. Here you'll find storefronts and kiosks selling locally made handicrafts and fine jewelry, duty-free goods and official Carnival merchandise.
Colorful murals painted by local artists line the pathways, while a local Bahamian artisan market adds authentic local charm. Suncastle Grounds Coffee is the perfect pick-me-up with hot, iced or frozen coffee drinks and snacks.
What costs extra at Celebration Key?
While beach access, sun loungers and basic casual dining are included in the cruise fare, a few popular upgrades cost extra.
- Included dining: Carnival's Island Eats program covers one meal at participating food trucks and snack shacks. Full-service, sit-down restaurants cost extra, but you'll get a 25% discount on entrees.
- Extra-charge perks: Waterslide passes, cabana/villa rentals, Pearl Cove admission, motorized water sports, alcoholic beverages, and shore excursions (like island Jeep tours or glass-bottom boat rides).
Does the Cheers! drink package work at Celebration Key?
No, this Carnival beverage package is valid strictly onboard the ship. All drinks on the island must be purchased a la carte or bundled through a Pearl Cove Beach Club day pass.
Does my Sail & Sign card work at Celebration Key?
Yes, for food and drinks. Your card is accepted at Celebration Key's dining venues and is required for reboarding the ship. It's not accepted at retail outlets in Lokono Cove, so bring a credit card or cash for shopping and souvenirs.
Is Celebration Key a private island?
Technically, no. Celebration Key is a gated beach resort on the south coast of Grand Bahama Island, not a private island like Carnival's Half Moon Cay.

Is Celebration Key accessible for guests with mobility needs?
Yes. Wide, paved paths connect the portals, open-air trams run continuously and beach wheelchairs are available at Paradise Plaza on a first-come, first-served basis. The main exception is Pearl Cove Beach Club, where loose sand pathways require guests to be fully mobile.
