Suffice to say, I’ve put these bags through their paces, and I definitely have my favorites. Here are a few of my top carry-on luggage picks and why I love them so much.
Best for overpackers: The Away Bigger Carry-On ($295) is the largest carry-on bag that I own — and the one I reach for most often. It’s big enough to hold four to seven days’ worth of clothing, but it still fits in the overhead bin on most planes (save for some smaller regional jets, where I have to gate-check it).
Best budget-friendly softside: I’ve transitioned to a hard-shell luggage girl, but if you prefer a softside bag, I love the Swissgear Sion Carry-On Suitcase ($130). It’s durable, expandable, has a ton of organization features and comes in a rainbow of fun colors.
Best for peace of mind: We’ve long touted the benefits of throwing an AirTag in your suitcase when you travel, but you can simplify that process by using a suitcase with built-in tracking capabilities. The July CaseSafe Carry On ($325) has a battery-powered lock compatible with Apple’s Find My network and Google’s Find Hub network, so you can easily track your bag.
Best duffle bag: If I’m only traveling for one night, I can sometimes get away with traveling light. This Bagsmart Weekender Overnight Duffle ($29.59) fits everything you need for a night away, and has ample interior and exterior pockets to keep your items neat and tidy.
