Chase Ultimate Rewards points are the most valuable points I earn. More than any other transferable currency, they’re the points that turn my travel ideas into trips I can actually take — whether it’s a cheap flight, a convenient airport hotel or a luxury Hyatt stay.
Right now, new cardholders can earn an elevated 100,000 bonus points after spending $5,000 on purchases in the first three months from account opening with the current welcome offer on the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card.
As a digital nomad, trust me when I say this bonus can go a long way. To make the value of 100,000 Chase points feel more real, here are some ways you could use them.
Redeem for transatlantic flights
One of the most compelling ways to redeem Chase Ultimate Rewards points for transatlantic flights is by transferring to Virgin Atlantic Flying Club. Economy awards from the East Coast to London start at 6,000 points (plus taxes and fees), meaning your 100,000-point bonus could get you up to 16 one-way flights!
If economy isn’t your jam, premium economy starts at 10,500 points and lie-flat business class starts at 29,000 points (though the taxes and fees on these awards can get steep).
Air France-KLM Flying Blue is another option, with economy awards from the East Coast starting at 18,750 points (plus $155) and business class from 60,000 points (plus $364). That means the bonus could cover up to five economy flights or one business-class flight.
Redeem for domestic flights
If your goal is maximizing flights, domestic awards start at just 5,000 Flying Blue points, 5,400 JetBlue points or 5,600 United miles. That means 100,000 points could get you up to 20 domestic flights.
Or they could cover up to four round-trip tickets to Hawaii.
Redeem for hotels
Hyatt award nights start at 3,000 points. With this program’s 4:3 transfer ratio, you could get up to 25 nights at Category 1 properties.
Even if you book more moderately priced hotels at 6,000 points, that’s still 12 nights! Or you could go for luxury and book three nights at a Category 7 property like the Park Hyatt Maldives (one of my favorites!).
It’s also worth mentioning Wyndham Rewards, where award nights start at 7,500 points now but will start at 5,000 beginning Sept. 15. So you could get up to 20 award nights at Wyndham properties.
The sky’s the limit
That should give you an idea of just how many different trips you could build with 100,000 Chase points. So don’t miss your chance to earn this highest-ever 100,000-point welcome bonus on the Sapphire Preferred. We don’t know when we’ll see one this high again.
