Still thinking about that massive new bonus of 150,000 points from the Chase Sapphire Reserve® that dropped yesterday?
Us too, so let’s dig into just how good this is and whether it’s right for you.
Just how good is this limited-time Sapphire Reserve bonus?
Limited-time offer details: Earn 150,000 bonus points on the Chase Sapphire Reserve after spending $6,000 on purchases in the first three months from account opening.
At 150,000 points, it is 25,000 bonus points higher than any public offer we’ve ever seen for this card!
In fact, I remember when TPG had a special 100,000-point welcome bonus when this card launched almost 10 years ago, and everyone lost their minds then over 100k points, so this is a genuinely rare opportunity to earn 150,000 points!
Who is eligible for this 150k point bonus?
Chase recently updated its rules — and that’s good news.
You can now have both the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card and Sapphire Reserve, though if you’ve had the Reserve before (or earned its bonus), you may not be eligible.
As always, you’ll also want to be under Chase’s 5/24 rule (explained here if you aren’t familiar).
Is the card really worth $795 per year?
I’ve had this card in my wallet for nearly 10 years — and for me, it absolutely is.
- $300 annual travel credit
- $500 in annual hotel credits for Chase’s The Edit (two up to $250 statement credits on prepaid bookings of at least two nights)
- $300 in annual dining credits ($150 biannually)
- $300 in annual StubHub or Viagogo credits ($150 biannually)
You can get a big chunk of that fee back each year in credits (more than $2,800 in ongoing annual value) — before you even factor in lounge access and other perks.
How much are 150,000 Chase points worth?
It’s very reasonable to get over $3,000 in value from this bonus.
You can redeem 150,000 bonus Ultimate Rewards points for select flights, hotels, car rentals and more in Chase Travel℠ at rates that go as high as 2 cents per point (or even higher with select new Points Boost options).
The points get even more valuable when you transfer them to one of Chase’s many hotel and airline partners, such as United MileagePlus, World of Hyatt, Air Canada Aeroplan and many more — and this is exactly how I love redeeming a lot of my Chase points.
To give you a taste, 150,000 Chase points are enough for:
- As many as 12 round-trip economy flights to London on Virgin Atlantic (plus taxes and fees).
- As five one-way lie-flat Upper Class fares on Virgin Atlantic (before taxes and fees), which normally cost several thousand dollars each!
- Multiple nights at Hyatt resorts, such as the beachfront Hyatt Regency Maui, the all-inclusive Secrets St. Lucia, or have a city adventure at the Thompson Central Park in NYC.
This is the highest-ever public offer on this card — and these elevated bonuses don’t tend to stick around for long.
If you’re ready to get a top premium rewards card, a big pile of Chase points or both, check out this limited-time offer of 150,000 bonus points.
