Flying across the ocean in a bunk bed is no longer science fiction or an April Fool’s joke, as Air New Zealand is introducing six bookable bunk beds that it calls the “Skynest” for flights between New York to Auckland, New Zealand.
The price? $495 for a four-hour block of time in the bunks on that ultra-long-haul flight.
Is it worth it? Well, that’s likely to split opinions. But it was pretty darn cozy and comfortable for the brief time I tried it out.
If you want to find out more about how in-flight bunk beds will work, who can book the Skynest bunks and the rules of the game if you want to rest in one, we’ve got you covered.
And it’s not just Skynest (or the similarly named Skycouch) that’s offering economy passengers ways to get more comfortable without buying up to business class.
Here are some other recent announcements and trends for those of us who don’t always have the cash or miles to book the fancy seats at the front of the plane.
