I come bearing news, both good and bad. Let’s start with the bad: This Sunday, the clocks will change (and we’ll all feel thrown off) as daylight saving time comes to an end. But the good news is that this is the one where we gain an extra hour of sleep, or “fall back.” (This year, I’m personally thankful for the extra hour, considering I’ll get to snooze a little longer before tackling the New York City Marathon on Sunday.)
If you’re traveling this weekend, brush up on the list of states and provinces that don’t participate in daylight saving time, make sure you know if a foreign destination you’re visiting is changing (or has already changed) time, and keep tabs on your digital calendar while switching time zones to be certain it’s correct.
All this to say, do a little research and planning ahead of this weekend’s time change to save you some potential issues on the road.
And, since time changes always make us worry about sleep, it might be a good time to check out some of our favorite tips for beating jet lag, because we all know adjusting to a new time can be a little tricky.
