Ultrapremium cards like these may not be for everyone. But as a longtime Amex Platinum cardmember, here’s why it’s keeping a spot in my wallet:
🤑 Same great perks, plus more. Amex has added exciting new statement credits — like up to $75 quarterly at U.S. Lululemon stores (excluding outlets) and online, and up to $100 quarterly for U.S. Resy restaurants — and expanded the coveted hotel credit to a whopping $300 biannually. Enrollment is required for all of these, but …
✅ Enrollment is super easy!Log in to your account and you’ll find a new, incredibly simple and streamlined way to immediately enroll in the new benefits.
🏝️ It unlocks amazing experiences. With the Amex Membership Rewards points I’ve earned with this card over the years, I’ve:
Taken business-class flights to Europe for ski trips in the Alps with my friends
Enjoyed luxurious hotel stays in Mexico and the Caribbean with my family
Avoided paying sky-high cash prices on Delta Air Lines flights by transferring points to SkyMiles
Taken a bucket-list, round-the-world trip through seven countries by transferring points to All Nippon Airways (sadly, this redemption option has since ended)
🫰The rewards are incredibly valuable. With the Amex Platinum card, now you can apply and find out if you’re eligible for a welcome offer as high as 175,000 bonus points after you spend $8,000 on purchases within the first six months of card membership. (Of course, welcome offers vary, and you may not be eligible for one — especially if you’ve already had one on this card in the past.)
Or, for my business owners out there, there’s a new limited-time offer where you can earn a staggering 200,000 bonus points on the Business Platinum card after spending $20,000 on eligible purchases within the first three months of card membership. That’s the biggest public offer in this card’s history, worth a whopping $4,000, per TPG’s September 2025 valuations.
Let’s be real, though: The Platinum card, and its now-$895 annual fee, isn’t for everyone (see rates and fees). But if you’re a maximizer like me, the statement credits (new and old) fit your lifestyle, or you’re a frequent traveler who values perks like lounge access, it’s absolutely worth a look — especially with six-figure welcome offers on the table right now.
