Hello, TPG readers! Senior writer Tarah Chieffi back with you here for a few days this week. Let’s kick it off with a little life lesson that applies to clothing, credit cards and everything in between: One size most certainly does not fit all.
My husband and I are typically traveling with three kids in tow. We need a card that can get all five of us into the airport lounge and let us check a few bags for free. But your travel style might be totally different (and less hectic).
Here are a few of my top card recommendations for different types of travelers.
Thrifty tourist: If budget is a priority, the Southwest Rapid Rewards® Plus Credit Card is the way to go. For only a $99 annual fee, you can get benefits like free checked bags for you and up to eight travel companions, plus complimentary standard seat selection within 48 hours when available. New cardholders can earn 100,000 bonus Rapid Rewards points after spending $4,000 in the first five months from account opening. Not only can you redeem those for Southwest Airlines flights, but they’ll also give you a great head start on earning Southwest’s highly valuable Companion Pass.
Business-class bestie: If you think Champagne just tastes better at 35,000 feet, I recommend adding the Chase Sapphire Reserve® to your wallet. With access to Chase Sapphire and Priority Pass lounges for you and up to two guests, this card can easily elevate your travel experience.
See you back here in a couple of days. In the meantime, follow along with me on Instagram. I can’t promise any additional life lessons, but I think I’m pretty fun.
Happy travels,
Tarah
