Let’s say you’ve earned one of the incredible bonus offers we’ve written about over the last few weeks. You find yourself with thousands of points to redeem for travel. What’s next?
One of the best ways to maximize the value of your credit card points is to transfer them to airline loyalty programs. Two of my favorite airline loyalty programs are running can’t-miss 25% transfer bonuses for a limited time when you move your Chase points:
When you transfer 1,000 Chase points, you’ll receive 25% more points or miles, equal to 1,250 Flying Blue miles or Flying Club points.
If the thought of transfer partners and moving points to airline programs is new to you, check out TPG’s transfer partner cheat sheet, where we list transfer partners and show step-by-step instructions for moving your points so you can redeem for award seats.
Here are a few examples of how you can maximize the current transfer bonuses:
Air France-KLM
Flying Blue’s saver pricing on one-way tickets between the U.S. and Europe starts at 25,000 miles in economy, 40,000 in premium economy and 60,000 in business class. If you transfer Chase points, you’ll need just 20,000 points for economy, 32,000 for premium economy or 48,000 for business-class redemptions.
You could leverage one of Flying Blue’s monthly Promo Rewards for even more value. This May, you can book a flight to Europe from U.S. destinations for 18,750 miles one-way in economy. If you combine Promo Rewards with this transfer bonus, flights could be booked by transferring just 15,000 Chase points.
Virgin Atlantic
Virgin Atlantic’s saver fares from New York City’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to London’s Heathrow Airport (LHR) start at a low 6,000 points for a one-way economy ticket. This bonus could get you to London for just 5,000 Chase points!
If you’re looking for luxury, Virgin’s saver lie-flat Upper Class seats from JFK to LHR go for 29,000 Flying Club points. This transfer bonus lowers that to 24,000 Chase points.
