In late 2024, Marriott acquired Postcard Cabins in a push toward more outdoor-oriented lodging options. Now, Marriott Bonvoy has updated its terms and conditions to include Postcard Cabins. Plus, some Postcard Cabins are now bookable through Marriott Bonvoy. So, here's what you need to know.

Participating Postcard Cabins properties

As of May 13, the following Postcard Cabins properties are participating in the Marriott Bonvoy program:

Although you can currently book paid stays through Marriott Bonvoy at these properties, you can't redeem Marriott points for stays yet. And as for when more Postcard Cabins properties will participate in Marriott Bonvoy? A Marriott spokesperson told TPG, "The current expectation is that all 29 Postcard Outposts will be integrated by early June."

Marriott benefits at Postcard Cabins

Marriott Bonvoy recently updated its terms and conditions to add Postcard Cabins, a recent change which LoyaltyLobby discovered.

You can earn and redeem Marriott points at Postcard Cabins based on these updated terms and conditions. However, in practice, you can't redeem Marriott points for stays at Postcard Cabins yet. But, you'll earn 10 base points per dollar spent, plus any elite bonus points, when staying at participating Postcard Cabins properties you book through Marriott. Likewise, you'll earn one elite night credit for each qualifying night stayed.

Participating Postcard Cabins properties adhere to Marriott Bonvoy's Ultimate Reservation Guarantee. As such, if you have Marriott elite status and a confirmed reservation but are relocated from the property upon arrival, the participating Postcard Cabins property will give you $200 and 90,000 Marriott points.

If you have Marriott Gold Elite status, you'll get an elite welcome gift of 500 points per stay at Postcard Cabins. Meanwhile, if you have Marriott Platinum Elite or higher status, you'll get an elite welcome gift of 1,000 points per stay or a $10 food-and-beverage amenity per person, per night for yourself and up to one guest staying in your room. If you aren't offered an elite welcome gift at the time of arrival as a Platinum Elite member or higher, you're eligible for $100 in compensation.

Platinum Elite members and above who book at least a day in advance can also get $100 if a participating Postcard Cabins property can't provide their requested room type.

However, remember that participating Postcard Cabins properties don't offer some standard Marriott Bonvoy elite benefits, including complimentary enhanced internet access, a gift shop discount, guaranteed lounge access and 48-hour guaranteed availability. Plus, not all Postcard Cabins locations offer complimentary in-room internet access, so check the page for your specific property if internet access is important for your stay.

Bottom line

I'm shocked by the modest rates — under $150 per night on some dates — at some of the participating Postcard Cabins properties. I'm also pleased that stays at Postcard Cabins earn points and elite night credits at the full, standard rate.

I'm eager to see whether award rates for Postcard Cabins are reasonable once these properties are bookable with Marriott points. But, assuming they are, I could certainly see myself redeeming points for a five-night stay to utilize Marriott's "Stay for 5, Pay for 4" perk.
