Last week was all about Southwest Airlines with a deluge of announcements, most of which were not well received by travelers.
It started with the news that bags will no longer fly free on Southwest unless you are paying for a more expensive fare or have elite status or a cobranded credit card (tip: some have a limited-time offer right now). This was quickly followed by the introduction of basic economy fares, and the news that flight credits will now expire.
Reactions across the travel industry ranged from United Airlines’ CEO saying it was “the slaying of the sacred cow” to aviation sites declaring it “The Day Southwest Died.”
If you’re booked on a Southwest flight and are concerned about the rapid changes, here is what we know and our advice on what to do now.
The W Maldives unveiled its newly renovated overwater bungalows, which can be booked for as low as 80,500 Marriott Bonvoy points per night. And, if the third season of “The White Lotus” has inspired you to book a trip to Thailand, you will love Nicky Kelvin’s behind-the-scenes video at the luxurious Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui.
