One thing that helps me choose which is best for me is figuring out some trips I can take with the card’s welcome bonus.
And with the current offer on the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card, there are some seriously great options where you can get far more than the face value of the bonus miles being offered.
Right now, new applicants can earn 75,000 bonus miles after spending $4,000 in the first three months from account opening, plus a $250 credit for Capital One Travel to use in your first cardholder year. Those miles are always a terrific value, and the $250 credit is a special offer we don’t often see!
If you want to use those miles and the credit to book travel through the Capital One Travel portal, you can get an impressive $1,000 worth of travel. But you could do even better by using Capital One’s 15-plus hotel and airline partners.
For example, you could transfer miles to Virgin Atlantic Flying Club and book a premium economy ticket on Virgin Atlantic from New York to London for 16,500 points plus taxes and fees, which is a pretty great deal considering that ticket would sell for around $1,000 one-way and this would only use up a very small number of those 75,000 bonus miles.
If you prefer a lie-flat option, you can transfer miles to Flying Blue and book business-class tickets on Air France from New York to Paris in July for just 60,000 miles plus taxes and fees each way. You could book either of those with this bonus and have miles and travel credit left over!
Or if you have your sights set on a domestic paradise, you can transfer your miles to Turkish Airlines and book a flight from the U.S. to Hawaii for just 10,000 miles in economy, thanks to its incredible sweet spot for booking on United Airlines. You could do that a number of times with a bundle of 75,000 bonus miles — which easily shows how you can stretch this bonus to be worth far more than $1,000 in travel.
