If you’re keeping track at home, there are just 10 days until Christmas — but only four days until a record-setting end-of-year holiday travel rush is expected to kick off in earnest.
December has brought a flurry of news that will affect travel in 2025, though.
Meanwhile, Alaska Airlines announced the much-anticipated launch of its “international gateway” in Seattle following its acquisition of Hawaiian Airlines, with flights to Tokyo launching in May.
Speaking of Seattle, the city will soon be the home of the fourth high-end Delta One Lounge, with the opening slated for sometime in early 2025. In the meantime, the airline just opened its third upscale outpost for Delta One passengers this past week at Boston Logan International Airport (BOS).
At long last, we can report report good news about Amtrak’s brand-new Acela trains. After years of delays, the spiffy high-end train sets will hit the tracks of the Northeast Corridor in the spring of 2025.
Finally, if you’re traveling over the holidays (or stuffing a stocking), you might want to consider Apple AirTags, which now integrate with bag-tracking tools at two large North American airlines.
