Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan miles are one of the most valuable U.S. airline loyalty currencies — and these days, you can redeem them on more and more international flights to far-flung destinations in Europe, Asia and Australia.
With the Companion Fare, you could book yourself on an Alaska flight and then add a partner, family member or friend at a discount (a flat $99 fare, plus taxes and fees from $23). In our opinion, this is best used on a pricey fare to maximize its value.
Don’t discount the 70,000 miles, either, which are worth around $1,015, according to TPG’s December 2024 valuations — not bad for a card that carries a $95 annual fee. Those miles could help you score a business-class seat to the South Pacific on one of Alaska’s Oneworld alliance partners, like Fiji Airways — or, perhaps, a trip to Tokyo on Alaska’s sister airline, Hawaiian Airlines.
This is a limited-time offer, so don’t delay in adding this Alaska Mileage Plan card to your wallet if you plan to take advantage of its welcome bonus — including the Companion Fare.
