If you enjoy earning and redeeming points and miles, you probably love finding other money-saving hacks, as well. I’m always looking for ways to save money — whether it’s using the McDonald’s app to get free Happy Meals for my kids or finding the best ways to book flights and hotels to get the best prices.
I see articles all the time touting “travel booking hacks,” like booking flights on a certain day of the week or searching for flights and hotels using incognito mode on your browser so they can’t jack up the price if they know you’ve been searching for a while.
While booking directly ensures you can earn points and take advantage of elite perks like room upgrades, free breakfast and complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi, could you be missing out on substantial discounts by doing so?
I won’t give it all away here — check out the full story — but I will give a quick plug for one of TPG’s favorite tools for tracking flight prices — Google Flights. Whenever I need to book a flight, I go to Google Flights first to track prices and see which airline has the best fare and can get me to my destination in a timely fashion.
