We saw yet another instance of an airline loyalty program making it harder to earn top-tier status, with United Airlines announcing major changes to its Premier elite status program. And yet another award chart bit the dust: Virgin Atlantic Flying Club’s new dynamic pricing model went live, but on the bright side, it did result in some incredible new prices on off-peak transatlantic flights. (Be sure to read yesterday’s newsletter to get the scoop on those!)
Some more big air travel news: In a sizable win for customers, new airline refund rules are now in effect for canceled or significantly delayed flights.
Over on the hotel beat, Hyatt announced a new joint venture with the owner of Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts – a move that will further expand its all-inclusive resort offerings.
