The Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card is one of the best travel rewards cards due to its perks, earning rates and valuable rewards currency.
It offers 5 points per dollar spent on travel booked through Chase Travel℠, 3 points per dollar spent on dining and 2 points per dollar spent on other travel. Plus, its already modest $95 annual fee is softened by an annual $50 credit when you book hotels through Chase Travel.
If you don’t already have the Chase Sapphire Preferred, now may be a good time to apply. After all, new applicants can currently earn 60,000 points after spending $4,000 in the first three months from account opening and get up to $300 in statement credits in the first year from account opening for purchases made on Chase Travel.
According to TPG’s October 2024 valuations, you can get about $1,230 in value from 60,000 points if you utilize Chase transfer partners like World of Hyatt (which I used to book the Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa, pictured above). But the $300 Chase Travel credit effectively makes the welcome offer worth $1,530.
I’d use the Chase Travel statement credits to book one or more flights, as you’ll usually still get airline loyalty program perks and earnings even when you book through an online travel agency such as Chase Travel. But you could also use the credit to cover hotels or any other travel you book through Chase Travel.
