This is my kind of October surprise — an unexpected increased offer on the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card! Chase usually only increases the offer on this very popular card once per year, but this year it’s given us a treat by doing it for a second time.
And Chase has done it in a way it never has before: by including a Chase Travel℠ credit. In fact, you could make a strong case that this is the best offer of the year on this low-annual-fee card for most travelers.
The Chase Sapphire Preferred Card has an increased offer of 60,000 points after you spend $4,000 in the first three months of card membership and up to $300 in statement credits for any purchases made on Chase Travel in the first year after account opening. (The regular offer is normally a flat 60,000 bonus points once you hit the spending requirement, so this is clearly $300 better!)
That is an incredible offer worth over $1,500 — based on TPG’s October 2024 valuations — for a card with a $95 annual fee.
I usually transfer my Chase Ultimate Rewards points to Hyatt, United Airlines, Air Canada and other Chase transfer partners. But the honest truth is that many people don’t want to mess with figuring out transfer partners and prefer a more clear-cut redemption.
Many travelers redeem their points from this card for 1.25 cents each on the Chase Travel site, which lets you book flights or hotels similar to a site like Expedia, so you aren’t limited to just points-friendly hotels. In fact, you can book car rentals, attractions and more.
That means that the $300 Chase Travel credit with this bonus is extremely easy to use, regardless of what type of travel you want to book in the next year.
And if that’s how you use some or all of your Chase points, then this is indeed the most valuable offer we have seen on the card this year.
If you are eligible for this rare, increased bonus on the Chase Sapphire Preferred and like the idea of a bonus $300 Chase Travel credit, I highly recommend applying soon and adding this outstanding card to your wallet.
I would not expect this offer to last long, so grab the limited-time offer on the Chase Sapphire Preferred and use all those pricey end-of-year expenses to meet the spending requirement so you can start 2025 traveling more for less money.
