The rush for free inflight internet is turning into a stampede, with Southwest Airlines becoming the latest to join the fray. Providing flyers with fast, free surfing is now considered table stakes at many big airlines. That was underscored by Southwest’s announcement coming on the same day that free-internet pioneer JetBlue unveiled plans to make its service even faster.
Rival airlines are beginning to take stock of the situation, too. Both Frontier Airlines and United Airlines have rolled out expansions on routes that overlap with Spirit.
