It's no secret that people go crazy over the Maldives — with crystal clear blue waters and white sandy beaches, not to mention some of the most gorgeous hotels you'll ever see. What's not to love?
Well, get ready to add something new to your bucket list: There's a new pop-up "culinary theater" that's going to showcase some of the best names in fine dining from around the world, each of whom has earned two or three Michelin stars for their respective restaurants. We're talking a one-of-a-kind tasting menu prepared for only eight guests at a time, with rotating chefs throughout the year. There isn't even a menu — so you know it's going to be out of this world.
One recent dinner, courtesy of Kiko Moya of Spain's L'escaleta, featured seven courses, including creamy mustard and freshly cut herbs, spicy roasted pumpkin juice, iced almond cream and licorice syrup.
According to Travel + Leisure, "there's a lot of interaction with each chef," and the dinners are an intimate experience for diners and vacationers. Our stomachs are growling already.
You'll find this magical wonderland — complete with views of the Indian Ocean and a "roof that retracts to see the stars" — at Soneva Fushi. It's called Once Upon a Table, and it's open for dinner on Monday, Thursday and Sunday. The meals are $487 per person — a steep cost, but one that can be offset by using a card that earns you bonus points on dining, such as the Chase Sapphire Reserve (3x). More information can be found at Soneva.
