Q1 Hilton Promotion Confirmed
Last week, I wrote about a Q1 Hilton promotion rumor, which now turns out to be true (well, besides the Delta component- so far).
Per this link, the Q1 promotion is:
With Hilton HHonorsâ„¢' More Nights, More Points offer, you can earn free nights faster than ever. Stay two nights and double your points for your entire stay. Stay three nights to triple your points, or four nights to quadruple your points. Book at any of the 3,600 hotels in 82 countries before March 31, 2011 and earn points fast. It's a quick ticket to unforgettable
It's difficult to say which Q1 promotion is the "best", because it depends for each type of traveler.
For travelers with a small amount of one night stays, I'd say Marriott is the clear winner, which gives 1 free mid-tier night for every 2 stays (maximum of 2 free nights) with Starwood in second place, offering double nights on all stays and 500 extra points for each weekend night.
For the very frequent traveler, especially those who stay four nights in a row (ah hem, I'm talking about you, consultants), I think Hilton leads the pack, offering quadruple points for each 4 night stay. Starwood only offers triple points for stays during the week and the Marriott free nights are capped at 2, which wouldn't really help someone who is on the road for weeks.
For the frequent traveler with lots of weekend stays, Starwood may be the best because they offer triple points on all stays when you stay 10 nights more, cumulatively over the promotion period. The Hilton promo makes you stay four nights in a row, per stay.
The elephant in the room is Hyatt, who has yet to announce their Q1 promo- if they are even having one.
