Fairmont Hotels & Resorts will open its first-ever property in Japan this summer and is now taking reservations for the Tokyo hotel.

The Fairmont Tokyo, which is set to open July 1, will house 217 rooms and suites high in the sky on floors 36 through 42 (with the lobby on the 35th floor), Fairmont shared with TPG. Thanks to its elevated position, guests will be able to take in breathtaking views of the city skyline from a relaxation pool and a west-facing sundeck or look out on Tokyo Bay from the east-facing observation deck complete with a seating area and a fireplace.

The hotel will be located in the Shibaura district, a stone's throw from major landmarks like Tokyo Tower and Zojoji Temple.

"There is truly so much to see and explore, starting with the incredible panoramic views from every windowed corner and terrace," Omer Acar, CEO of Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, said in a statement shared with TPG. "In this urban retreat, we have had the opportunity to bring to life a celebratory experience that marries Tokyo's heritage and culture with a sense of innovation and modernity. This is the perfect home for Fairmont."

The property's rooms will range in size, from 170 square feet to more than 900 square feet, and have floor-to-ceiling windows with views of the city. Rooms will be decorated with a mix of Japanese lightweight sen wood, quartzite stone and brass accents — and feature Fairmont's signature Le Labo bath products, of course.

Travelers who book a Fairmont Gold room will have access to a private check-in area and lounge with signature amenities like afternoon canapes and evening cocktails, plus personalized turndown rituals.

When it opens, the Fairmont Tokyo will offer five restaurants and two bars, including a brasserie serving wood-fired pizzas and a lobby lounge celebrating French and Japanese cafe culture. Guests will also have access to a spa and health club on the 35th floor complete with a 65-foot indoor infinity pool featuring a wall of windows overlooking the city beyond.

Room rates start at $926 per night for the opening week, according to a search on Fairmont's website. But as a bonus, Fairmont is offering a hotel credit of 10,000 yen ($66.95) per room for travelers who book by July 24 for a stay between July 1 and Sept. 30.

This is Fairmont's first property in Japan but not its first in Asia. Beyond Tokyo, Fairmont operates hotels in Singapore, South Korea and China, among other destinations.
