Delta Air Lines sure knows how to impress passengers.

"Wow, this place is beautiful," was the first thing I overheard when I stepped inside Delta's newly expanded Sky Club in New York's LaGuardia Airport (LGA) on Monday.

Last week, the carrier quietly opened an expansion of its LGA Sky Club, adding a brand-new Sky Deck, another bar and more than 115 extra seats, giving this already industry-leading space a beautiful glow-up.

Delta added nearly 4,500 square feet to the Sky Club, making it the largest outpost in Delta’s network yet. In total, the LGA lounge now measures a whopping 35,120 square feet and has seating for more than 700 travelers.

On Monday, I visited the expanded lounge to see the improvements firsthand. I left even more impressed than the time I first reviewed the lounge when it opened in 2022.

Delta LGA Sky Club year-round Sky Deck

Undoubtedly, the highlight of the lounge expansion is the addition of a year-round Sky Deck.

You'll find the new outdoor terrace at the far end of the lounge. Before it opened, Delta had a temporary construction wall separating this expansion from the rest of the club.

The Sky Deck is shaped like a long rectangular corridor. It features a long row of couch seating along the perimeter of the space.

Above this couch seating is a subtle mural of the New York City skyline, which supposedly looks even better when it's backlit at night. (Delta said it's installing better lighting to make the mural more visible during the day.)

The center row of the Sky Deck features various seating options, including two coworking tables and some olive green reclining chairs.

Finally, sand-colored chairs and a small bar table line the floor-to-ceiling windows.

The windows offer expansive views of the LaGuardia airfield, including a portion of runway 13/31, the Whitestone Bridge and the Manhattan skyline in the distance.

Just note that the windows are electronically tinted, so capturing airplane photography from here could be challenging. That said, most aviation enthusiasts will definitely want to park themselves here for unparalleled views of takeoffs and landings on runways 13 and 31.

Luckily, I visited on what might've been the most beautiful weather day New York has experienced this year. The Sky Deck will still be open year-round, though, thanks to retractable glass ceiling skylights that can be closed during cold or inclement weather. There are even heaters on the roof for temperature control during cooler months.

ZACH GRIFF/THE POINTS GUY

Delta did a great job making this Sky Club a great place to relax before your flight. There are power outlets and USB-A and USB-C ports everywhere you turn. Also, the Wi-Fi reception is exceptional outside.

ZACH GRIFF/THE POINTS GUY

In fact, I was impressed by how quiet and peaceful the Sky Deck was during my visit. Perhaps the green plants contribute to the atmosphere; maybe it's serene because the Sky Deck is so far from the lounge entrance that travelers haven't yet made it there.

Either way, this is where you'll find me camped out in LaGuardia going forward.

Delta LGA Sky Club expanded bar, seating

In addition to the new Sky Deck, Delta also expanded the interior of the Sky Club.

ZACH GRIFF/THE POINTS GUY

This includes a brand-new wood- and marble-clad bar that blends in perfectly with the rest of the lounge. A bartender is stationed here to whip up your favorite cocktail or pour a glass from one of the top-shelf bottles displayed behind the counter.

Next to the bar is a new nonalcoholic beverage station, complete with Starbucks coffee and an Eversys coffee machine.

ZACH GRIFF/THE POINTS GUY

This new area also features roughly 20 new dining tables, adding more space to this often overcrowded lounge.

I also love the new bar-style seating that Delta added next to the lounge's windows. This proved to be a popular spot for business travelers to relax before their flight.

The attention to detail here is quite impressive. There is a hook for handbags next to each bar stool, along with recessed power outlets and USB ports built into each table.

Finally, you'll find a new transit-themed mural installed along the walls of this expansion.

The uptown and downtown train signs might look like you're about to board a subway at the Times Square station. However, once you begin exploring the rest of the lounge, you'll quickly realize that this is very much a Sky Club operated by the nation's most premium airline.

Bottom line

Delta's expanded LaGuardia Sky Club shines in many ways.

It builds on an already stellar lounge experience that debuted almost two years ago to the day. It adds a beautiful new outdoor Sky Deck, as well as another premium bar, beverage station and more seating.

ZACH GRIFF/THE POINTS GUY

Now that it's fully completed, this is undoubtedly one of the nicest lounges in the entire Delta network. It's no surprise that so many travelers want to visit each day.

Hopefully the expansion should alleviate some of the overcrowding this Sky Club sees during peak periods.
