Marriott's PointSavers awards allow you to use fewer points than usual (up to 33% off) to book a stay at some of the brand's top properties. Marriott recently released its PointSavers list for the summer months, and the ones below are definitely worth considering if they align with your upcoming vacation plans — or maybe they provide the inspiration you've been looking for to lock in some travel.

Before jumping into the top options from this latest list, I feel obligated to remind you of the golden rule of Marriott points: Book nights in five-night blocks because with every four nights spent on points, you get the fifth one free.

Earn Points to Pay for Your Stay

If you're short on Marriott points but are tempted by any of the options below, you have a few ways to rack up the necessary rewards. First, remember that you can transfer Starpoints to Marriott at a 1:3 ratio and then book one of these PointSavers properties — so if you're sitting on lots of SPG points that's a quick solution.

If you don't have any points you can transfer over, you could buy Starpoints with a 35% discount now through the end of May. And as a last resort, you could sign up for the Marriott Rewards Premier Plus Credit Card and earn 75,000 Marriott points after spending $3,000 in the first three months. You might not earn the points in time to lock in one of these properties for summer, but at the very least you'd be in a good position by the time the next PointSavers list comes out.

This property frequently shows up on the PointSavers list, but that’s no reason to shy away. Hawaii is picturesque any time of year, and Waikiki Beach is a convenient home base on the island of Oahu. Steps away from the Pacific Ocean, location is the primary attraction of this property. Is there a better place to spend the Fourth of July than our nation’s capital? By far the best deal among Marriott PointSavers this summer, the property is walking distance to the White House and National Mall. Close proximity to Chinatown and Penn Quarter District make D.C.’s nightlife easily accessible.

Bottom Line

This summer’s “Point Savers” offerings encourage travelers to largely stay stateside. Though some offer deals in destinations that will be in the offseason this summer, there are attractive destinations at great properties in the height of peak travel season in both Nashville and Washington, D.C. Regardless of your aspirations for summer travel, if using points, definitely consider these properties first.
