If you've ever flown to Canada or within, you know that fares are usually pretty high - even for relatively short flights. In fact, I often recommend using miles for Canadian flights since they are usually the same as domestic US roundtrips, but cost more to buy so the value of each mile is higher (for example Canada redemptions are great with Avios points and even Aeroplan has reduced priced 15,000 mile awards for certain short-haul flights).

However, if you have any trips within or to Canada coming up before April 30, 2012 you might want to check to see if your flight is eligible for Air Canada's 50% off sale on select routes. They are matching Porter's sale, which gives 50% off base fares when you use code BOX50. WestJet is also matching!

Key details:

  • Valid on Tango fares (within Canada) or Tango Plus (US Destinations).
  • For travel until April 30, 2012.
  • Book by January 6, 2012 midnight, from your city of departure.

For flights within Canada, the following cities are eligible:

For travel to/from the US, you can travel to many Canadian cities from/to Boston, Chicago and Newark.

I priced out a random weekend trip from Newark to Toronto and the regular fare, including taxes, was $398.03.

With the USPROMO26DEC11 promo code the flight dropped down to $243.22. The taxes of $72.31 stayed the same, which is why the whole price was not halved.
