I recently scored an incredible deal on a vacation in the Cayman Islands, all thanks to the Chase Sapphire Reserve® (see rates and fees).

For less than 7,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points per night, I enjoyed a phenomenal stay at the 2-year-old Hotel Indigo Grand Cayman that included a number of extras, such as daily breakfast and a $100 property credit.

That's not a points pipe dream. You'll find low nightly rates like this when you stack multiple Chase Sapphire Reserve benefits, including one of two annual $250 The Edit statement credits and the card's $250 statement credit for select hotel brands, to book a stay at select hotels through the Chase Travel℠ portal.

I just did this myself to see if this hotel and this deal were as good in reality as they looked on paper. Spoiler alert: They absolutely were.

Here's why this tropical hotel just steps from one of the Caribbean's most famous beaches is well worth a visit, especially if you have Chase Sapphire Reserve perks and credits to use.

Why this is the perfect hotel to maximize your Sapphire Reserve perks

It's rare to find one hotel where so many Chase Sapphire Reserve benefits work together, which is why this one really stands out. At this Hotel Indigo, you'll find that:

  • Because the hotel is a member of Chase's The Edit program, you can use one of the Sapphire Reserve's annual $250 statement credits valid toward The Edit bookings.
  • Since it's an IHG hotel, when booking through Chase Travel, you can also use this year's one-time $250 statement credit for select brands as a Sapphire Reserve cardholder. Participating brands include IHG Hotels & Resorts, Minor Hotels, Montage Hotels & Resorts, Omni Hotels & Resorts, Pan Pacific Hotels and Resorts, Pendry Hotels & Resorts and Virgin Hotels.
  • Rates are relatively affordable, so there's very little left to pay after stacking the credits if you choose your dates wisely.
  • The property is currently a Points Boost-eligible hotel, so your points go further to cover the remaining cost. The Points Boost rate was 2 cents per point when I booked, though it is now priced at 1.65 cents per point via Points Boost.
  • Food and drinks are reasonably priced, so you'll get more out of the $100 property credit you receive by booking through The Edit.
  • Its location by world-renowned Seven Mile Beach is hard to beat.

With the example two-night stay shown above, the cash rate works out to $729, an already reasonable price for a multinight visit.

But with the Chase Sapphire Reserve's benefits, a stay here becomes even more affordable. Use your $250 The Edit statement credit and the $250 statement credit for select hotel brands like IHG, and you'll be left with only $229 to pay. Take advantage of Points Boost, and you'll avoid that out-of-pocket cost altogether by redeeming just 13,863 Chase points to cover the difference.

Things to know about the Hotel Indigo Grand Cayman

Sure, the hotel is a great deal when booked through The Edit, but how is the property itself? After my recent visit, I'd gladly recommend it to others, as it has many pluses.

It's located just minutes from Seven Mile Beach

Let's start with one of the main reasons why this hotel stands out: its dreamy location.

While it isn't technically on the beach, it's only a few minutes away from it, whether you walk through the parking lot shown below or request a ride via the hotel's complimentary golf carts.

It's a newer hotel that opened in 2024

The best hotel in a given area is often the newest or most recently renovated one. To that end, the Hotel Indigo Grand Cayman is at the top of the list, as it is just 2 years old.

It's still very fresh and modern, with well-maintained furnishings throughout, including on the private balconies. This isn't always the case with beach hotels since they can take some wear and tear from their exposure to sand and seawater.

There's an included beach club

While the hotel isn't immediately on the beach, staying there comes with complimentary access to the Bonny Moon Beach Club, which is right on the beach and offers free amenities like towels, sunscreen and lounge chairs, plus food and drinks for a fee.

I wasn't sure how much my group and I would love the beach club situation before we went, but now that we have been, I can safely say we loved it.

The beach was perfect, the service at the open-air restaurant was excellent and the mix of chairs both in the sun and away from it in the shade was much appreciated.

We didn't have any problems getting seats, either, but if you want a coveted first-row lounger, plan on arriving in the morning. No need to go before dawn or anything extreme, though. We went one morning after grabbing some coffee and were able to get prime, unobstructed seats without any trouble.

You receive credits that can cover the hotel's tasty food and drinks

When you book via The Edit and pay with your Sapphire Reserve, you get a number of built-in perks and credits to enjoy during your stay. Specifically, you'll receive daily breakfast for two and a $100 property credit.

We successfully used the breakfast credit for both the buffet and a la carte meals on-site, though we were told the plentiful buffet — which offered everything from fresh fruit to American classics like scrambled eggs and waffles — was technically the included option.

The hotel's other dining venues — including its dark, moody rooftop restaurant and lounge, Pom Pom — were a hit with me and my travel companions, too.

I was particularly fond of Pom Pom's tostones, ceviche and cocktails, which were all pretty reasonably priced. The $100 credit easily covered my portion of the entire evening, with some to spare.

But there were other standout deals where you could also use your credits, including the afternoon two-for-one frose (aka: frozen rose wine) by the pool.

It sits next to the Kimpton Seafire Resort + Spa for easy access to more amenities

Next door to the Hotel Indigo (and right on the beach) is its sister hotel, the Kimpton Seafire Resort + Spa, the pricier of the two properties.

Even if you pay the lower rates at the Hotel Indigo, as we did, you can still go to the Seafire for drinks or dinner, which is exactly what we planned.

SUMMER HULL/THE POINTS GUY

We loaded up in the complimentary golf cart shuttle one night to enjoy a sunset dinner at the Seafire's beachfront Coccoloba restaurant, which I highly recommend.

It's a laid-back spot that serves a mix of dishes featuring coastal Mexican and local Caribbean flavors. Whether you want tacos, ceviche, guacamole, a quesadilla or the catch of the day, you're in good hands here ... and still just minutes away from your hotel room.

There are suites and family rooms for larger groups

The Hotel Indigo Grand Cayman has 282 guest rooms, including 38 suites with various sleeping arrangements (some spread across more than one bedroom).

Since my visit was part of a girls trip with my two daughters and a friend of mine and her teen, we booked one of the family suites. We made good use of its king bed, set of bunk beds and pullout sofa bed and were glad to have two bathrooms to share.

Bottom line

Not every hotel is a great fit for stacking the Chase Sapphire Reserve benefits, but this one checks almost every box. It's affordable enough that the statement credits cover most of the stay, it's eligible for The Edit perks and it's somewhere I'd genuinely want to vacation.

If you're looking for a way to maximize your Sapphire Reserve benefits this year, I'd put the Hotel Indigo Grand Cayman at the top of the list.
