The Kidde battery-powered carbon monoxide detector runs on two AA batteries, which are included. No wiring is required, and you can mount the detector on a wall or set it on a tabletop. It's also pretty compact at 4.5 inches by 1.5 inches by 2.75 inches. So, it shouldn't take up much space in your carry-on bag.
