Airfare deals are typically only available on limited dates. We recommend you use Google Flights to find dates to fly, then book through an online travel agency, such as Orbitz or Expedia, which allows you to cancel flights without penalty by 11pm Eastern Time within one day of booking. However, if you're using the American Express Platinum Card, you'll need to book directly with the airline or through Amex Travel portal to get 5x MR points. Remember: Fares may disappear quickly, so book right away and take advantage of Orbitz or Expedia's courtesy cancellation if you're unable to get the time away from work or family.

Spirit has launched a notable Black Friday sale, offering a whopping 90% off flights — or the flight portion of a vacation package — for one day only. In order to get the 90% discount, you must enter the promo code 90PCT when searching at spirit.com. The discount is only available for travel on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and you must book by November 24 at 11:59pm ET, and travel between December 5, 2017, and February 13, 2018.

Note that the 90% discount isn't for the entire cost of the flight — it's applied to the base fare, but not the taxes and fees. Still, you'll find some pretty significant price drops when applying the promo code. Also note that there are blackout dates between December 19, 2017, and January 3, 2018. Finally, there are several cities and routes that aren't eligible for the 90% discount. You can see the full list on Spirit's promotion page.

Keep in mind that these fares are with low-cost carrier Spirit, meaning there could potentially be a slew of added charges.
