Editor's Note

Citi is a TPG advertising partner.

Citi is giving the Citi® / AAdvantage® Executive World Legend Mastercard® (see rates and fees) a new perk you can sink your teeth into.

Starting Oct. 25, primary cardholders will receive up to $200 in annual dining credits through inKind. Both primary cardholders and authorized users can redeem the benefit, but the $200 credit is shared across the account.

Unlike many credit card dining benefits that are distributed in monthly increments, the inKind credit is split into two up to $100 allotments — one for January through June and another for July through December each calendar year. That gives cardholders more flexibility to use each credit toward a substantial meal rather than tracking smaller monthly amounts.

The good news is that, because this credit is effective immediately, existing cardholders will have just over two months to use their first $100 dining credit before the end of 2026. The next $100 allotment will become available Jan. 1, 2027.

How the new dining credit works

InKind is an app-based dining payment and rewards platform with more than 10,000 participating restaurants, bars and cafes in the U.S. Users can search for participating venues and pay their check through the app.

The new credits are redeemed directly through inKind, so you'll see the savings at checkout rather than waiting for a statement credit weeks later.

Cardholders will need to add their AAdvantage Executive card to their inKind account to access the credits. To use the benefit, primary cardholders dine at a participating restaurant and apply the credit when paying their check through the inKind app. Credits cannot be applied toward gratuities, fees or service charges, so those costs and any remaining balance will be charged to the AAdvantage Executive card on file.

Before factoring the full $200 into the card's value, it's worth checking the inKind app for participating restaurants near you or in places you frequently travel. After all, a dining credit is only valuable if you can actually use it.

The twice-yearly structure is also far more forgiving than a use-it-or-lose-it monthly credit. Any unused portion also remains available for use in another transaction until the balance resets at the end of June or December.

InKind also offers its own rewards program where diners can earn up to 20% back on eligible spending, but this new collaboration is a standalone benefit. You can't combine the Citi dining credit with existing inKind Cash on the same transaction. However, eligible spending beyond the credit amount can still earn inKind cash back at participating restaurants.

"Dining is core to how we see our cardholders engaging," Courtney Joseph, Citi's head of reward products and premium customer experience, told TPG. He said Citi views dining access and experiences as a natural complement to the Executive card's travel benefits, part of a broader effort to offer more value beyond airline-specific perks.

Right now, this benefit is only available on the Citi / AAdvantage Executive card. Joseph said the credit will be a "permanent part of the value proposition" for Executive cardholders rather than a limited-time promotion. Citi hopes to expand the inKind collaboration to other cards and is considering ways to extend the collaboration, though it has not announced details on additional benefits, cards or timelines.

What else the Citi / AAdvantage Executive card offers

The Citi / AAdvantage Executive card is American Airlines' ultra-premium credit card, with a $695 annual fee and benefits geared primarily toward frequent flyers.

Its standout perk is an Admirals Club membership, but the card also offers pathways to earn AAdvantage miles and Loyalty Points.

Using the full $200 inKind benefit offsets nearly 30% of the card's $695 annual fee. It may also be one of the card's most broadly usable benefits. Instead of being tied to flying with American, this one provides value close to home. That piggybacks onto this summer's card refresh, which expanded the card's collection of travel and lifestyle benefits.

Other notable travel and lifestyle credits and benefits include:

  • Up to $500 back on eligible American Airlines Vacations purchases
  • Up to $100 back on inflight and eligible Admirals Club purchases
  • Up to 40,000 American Airlines Loyalty Points for reaching four qualifying Loyalty Point milestones each status qualification year
  • First checked bag free on domestic American Airlines itineraries (for you and up to 8 companions on the same reservation)
  • Increased earnings on eligible AAdvantage Hotels and AAdvantage Cars bookings
  • Complimentary Omni Hotels & Resorts Champion status and an annual Omni free night reward after a qualifying stay
  • Avis President's Club status (enrollment available through Aug. 31, 2028)

Bottom line

The new inKind dining credit adds up to $200 in potential annual value to the Citi / AAdvantage Executive's growing list of benefits.

The semiannual structure gives cardholders more flexibility than a monthly credit, although they'll need to use the inKind app and dine at participating restaurants to take advantage of it.

For existing cardholders who already frequent inKind restaurants, this could be a relatively straightforward way to get more value from the card's $695 annual fee.
