| A new way to check for higher offers |

American Express has a new way to check and see what the highest welcome offer for you might be, and there’s no impact on your credit score. (If you’re approved and accept the card, your credit score may be affected.)
With new sky-high offers on these Amex cards, there’s never been a better time to check your eligibility. I love redeeming my Amex Membership Rewards points for travel, and I’ll share some of my favorite ways below.
Offers as high as 175,000 bonus points on The Platinum Card® from American Express
If you are looking for a premium travel card with lounge access, the Amex Platinum could be a great fit for you. Amex is currently offering new cardholders a way to find out your offer and see if you are eligible for as high as 175,000 bonus points. Points are awarded after $8,000 in spending in the first six months of card membership. Welcome offers vary, and you may not be eligible for an offer.
With so many Amex Centurion Lounge options available, plus access to booking through American Express Fine Hotels + Resorts, this card offers many elitelike travel perks that provide thousands of dollars in annual value. Amex Membership Rewards points are worth 2 cents each, according to TPG’s August 2025 valuations, making this bonus worth up to $3,500.
Offers as high as 100,000 bonus points on the American Express® Gold Card
My Amex Gold is another card that lets me earn a lot of points quickly. This card earns an amazing 4 points per dollar spent on dining at restaurants worldwide and at U.S. supermarkets*, which are two of my biggest spending categories.
Some readers found out they were eligible for offers as high as 100,000 bonus points on the Amex Gold, which are awarded after $6,000 in spending on the card in the first six months of card membership. Welcome offers vary, and you may not be eligible for an offer.
Redeeming Amex points
Amex points are very versatile, and I love redeeming them for award travel. Here are a few of my favorite ways — a budget option and splurge options:
Budget: Book one-way domestic flights on American Airlines from 8,250 British Airways Avios on off-peak dates by transferring Amex points to British Airways.
Splurge: Book one-way business-class award seats on Air France-KLM with Flying Blue. There’s wide open late summer award space at the 60,000-mile level. I just booked tickets for a friend to join us in Portugal, flying from New York to Paris to Lisbon.
Splurge: Book the gorgeous new Waldorf Astoria Costa Rica using Amex points transferred at a 1:2 rate to Hilton Honors. Rates are 96,000 Hilton points per night, which is only 48,000 Amex points! Plus, when you book an award stay, the fifth night is free, so for a total of 240,000 Amex points, you could have a luxurious resort stay that would normally cost $6,500 if paying cash. That’s an amazing deal.
Bottom line
The Amex Platinum and Amex Gold have offers as high as 175,000 and 100,000 points, respectively, and you can check to see if there’s an offer for you quickly, easily and without impact on your credit score.
I always love hearing from TPG readers, so if you get a good offer, let me know!
Have a great weekend,
BK
* Amex Gold earning rate of 4 points per dollar spent on dining is on up to $50,000 per calendar year (then 1 point per dollar), and 4 points per dollar spent on purchases at U.S. supermarkets is on up to $25,000 per calendar year (then 1 point per dollar).
