Even if you redeem most of your points and miles for economy flights and standard hotel stays, we all have those special redemptions we will never forget. As a TPG staffer, I am surrounded by points and miles experts every day, so I asked my teammates to share their most memorable redemptions.
After reading these, I felt totally inspired to book my next dream trip and I think you’ll feel the same …
✈️ “AAdvantageous” flights: Clint Henderson, TPG’s principal spokesperson, has made amazing use of his American Airlines AAdvantage miles recently.
💳 Paris on points: Credit card writer Stephanie Stephens took advantage of a limited-time transfer bonus to get 25% more points when she transferred Chase Ultimate Rewards to Air France-KLM Flying Blue for a trip to Paris.
“I only needed 15,000 Chase points for a nonstop flight from D.C. — a ticket that would have otherwise cost 18,750 miles or over $600 in cash. Saving that money meant I had an extra fund for savoring croissants and strolling through museums in the City of Love.”
💂 England in Premium Economy: Senior analyst Fianeli Arvelo is another TPG transfer bonus boss. She used a 40% transfer bonus to book a flight to see Oasis in their hometown of Manchester for only 29,000 American Express Membership Rewards points after transferring to Virgin Atlantic Flying Club.
🏖️ Maldives memories: Director of Content Carly Helfand had a true “pinch me moment” when she scored six nights at the Conrad Maldives for 95,000 Hilton Honors points per night (a big win, given how much rates at that property have risen since then). Plus, her elite status got her the fifth night for free, and she used a free night certificate to cover one more night in paradise.
This trip was before her time at TPG, but her remarkable redemption was featured in a reader success story back in 2018. You can use these tricks to find equally impressive hotel award availability.
