They say there’s no such thing as a free lunch, but there is such a thing as a free hotel night. I found this out for myself when an email from Hyatt landed in my inbox letting me know I had earned a free night award after checking out of the Thompson Savannah earlier this year.
Unbeknownst to me, this hotel stay triggered an award I didn’t even know existed. You may already be well on your way to earning a free Hyatt hotel night, too, without even realizing it.
All World of Hyatt members are eligible to earn a Hyatt Brand Explorer award by staying at five different brands in the Hyatt portfolio. That means you could earn up to six free nights, since Hyatt has more than 30 brands to choose from.
Although I was taken by surprise, you can actually track your progress toward earning these awards in your World of Hyatt account.
There is no registration required and no expiration date for earning Hyatt Brand Explorer awards. Once you’ve met the requirements, you will automatically receive your free night certificate. And remember, resort fees are waived when you redeem a free night award.
I’m holding on to mine to use for a stay at one of TPG’s favorite Category 4 Hyatt properties … there are a few on the list with rates over $300 per night. Getting that hotel night for free without any extra legwork on my part is pretty sweet.
