It’s fair to say that some credit cards’ statement credits are easier to use than others. But across all the cards I’ve ever had, there is one credit that reigns supreme for its simplicity, value and usefulness — and it’s arguably even better now alongside the card’s soon-to-end limited-time offer.
The card is my Chase Sapphire Reserve®. And the limited-time offer, which is ending soon, lets you earn 100,000 bonus points plus a $500 Chase Travel℠ credit after you spend $5,000 on purchases in the first three months from account opening.
And while that promotional $500 Chase Travel credit is an absolute gem, the specific credit I value year after year is the Sapphire Reserve’s standard $300 annual travel credit.
This credit is so incredibly easy to use because it kicks in automatically, regardless of whether your purchase is through Chase’s portal. All you have to do is use the Sapphire Reserve to pay for expenses that code as travel, and you’ll automatically get a statement credit for those purchases.
That’s everything from hotel bookings to ride-hailing services to ferry tickets automatically covered, up to $300 per year.
Think of it this way: If you book a two-night hotel stay through The Edit for $450, your twice-yearly credit for The Edit bookings would kick in to cover the first $250, and then the remaining $200 could be wiped out by your annual travel credit (assuming you haven’t already used it up, anyway).
And that potential for stacking makes the limited-time $500 Chase Travel credit even more enticing because, to get the full value of this one-time credit, you’d want it to apply to a purchase over $500. (And after that initial $500, your annual travel credit should kick in on the overage.)
That’s right, I’m talking about statement credits that, in the end, can actually result in totally free travel!
But remember, that $500 Chase Travel credit — and the highly valuable pile of 100,000 Chase points that comes with it (an even bigger selling point, if you ask me) — won’t be available much longer, so get this incredible offer before it ends soon.
