It’s no secret that in the last few years, many rewards credit cards have become … complicated in terms of the benefits and credits that they offer.
And unless you only have one or two credit cards or are very disciplined with tracking everything, there’s a good chance you’re leaving some money on the table by missing out on some of your cards’ perks. (Here’s a full checklist for card perks to use up in December!)
Here are a few examples of credit card benefits you may already have and not realize it:
Dining credits: Up to $7 per month and $50 every six months in statement credits from your American Express® Gold Card. Every month, you can enjoy up to $7 at Dunkin’ with your Amex Gold card — some of my friends even use this to add $7 to their Dunkin’ app each month and use it later. And if you dine at a restaurant in the Resy program, this same card can give you up to a $50 statement credit on that meal every six months. (Enrollment is required for select benefits.)
Delta Stays credit: Don’t forget to use your up to $100-$250 in hotel and vacation rental credit each year when booking via Delta Stays if you have an eligible Delta Air Lines cobranded card, such as the Delta SkyMiles® Platinum American Express Card.
Merchant offers: Merchant offers are the classic coupon’s modern glow-up. Check your cards’ offers regularly and activate any that you might use. They can save you money or, in some cases, earn you even more rewards on your purchases. And these can be huge — for example, some Chase cardholders recently could get $200 back on a $400 purchase at Backcountry.
