It’s been another record-breaking year of travel, and 2025 is shaping up to be just as busy with travelers as enthusiastic as ever to discover new corners of the globe — but with a renewed focus on value for their money (and miles) and the opportunity to explore their interests and passions. The Points Guy’s team of travel experts dug into the data across all areas of the travel industry to bring you insights for the new year.
While lodging and airfare prices were down in 2024 compared to 2023, overall travel spending was up thanks to higher spending on dining and recreation. Travelers are looking for ways to connect in person, with 47% of travel being planned around a specific event.
But despite rising costs and higher spending, the love of travel and the desire for new experiences haven’t waned — 66% of people say they are more interested in travel now than they used to be.
Check out the full 2025 Travel Trends report as our travel experts share how changing global trends and conditions — from climate change and overtourism concerns to fluctuating prices and loyalty program devaluations — will affect travel in the future.
