If you’ve ever struggled to redeem your points and miles at reasonable rates or find award seats on popular routes, handy tools are available to help. Here are a few of my favorites:
Points Path
This free browser extension displays award pricing alongside the cash prices for select airlines in Google Flights. It also tells you which transferable points can be used with the airlines it supports and recommends when to use points versus cash.
Seats.aero
If you have transferable credit card points and don’t know where to send them, but just want a great price for your next redemption, then check out this powerful tool. I have been using Seats.aero on a daily basis. It offers a free version (to search up to 60 days in advance) and a $99.99-per-year Pro version (to search a full year in advance). My Pro account has already paid for itself many times over.
It lets me see the price and availability of every award seat across every route, on every date, with more than a dozen popular programs.
Want to find one of the amazing new Saver fares through Virgin Atlantic Flying Club? Or a 50,000-mile Flying Blue business-class seat to Europe? Seats.aero will show you all of the live availability in seconds, and allow you to click through from the search result to directly book that flight.
Max My Point
If you want to find the best hotel availability across Hyatt, Hilton, IHG and Marriott properties, Max My Point will easily show you real-time pricing throughout the year. You can find the nights with the lowest prices and then click through to book directly.
Here are additional resources to help you find the best availability for your points and miles:
