There’s been an extraordinary amount of airline news since our last newsletter, so let’s get right to it. (And be sure to read to the end for details on an exclusive Singapore Airlines discount offer for newsletter subscribers.)
Alaska Airlines closed on its deal to acquire Hawaiian Airlines in the biggest U.S. airline merger since Alaska bought Virgin America in 2016. The combined carrier agreed to protect frequent flyers to win approval for the deal, which will see Honolulu become the second-busiest hub in the Alaska-Hawaiian route map.
I’ll close out this week with a fare deal you’ll only find here in today’s newsletter: a special 40%-off code for economy tickets to four destinations from San Francisco on Singapore Airlines.
The offer is limited, with compact booking and travel windows for the four eligible destinations. But those destinations — Singapore, Bali (Denpasar), Kuala Lumpur and Male in the Maldives — include some top wish-list locales. The 40% discount to those airports applies only to economy fares and must be booked by Oct. 5 for travel between Sept. 25 and Nov. 30.
To book the discount, navigate to Singapore Airlines’ special fare page and enter the code “TPG40OFF.” Once that redirects you to a page that reads “Exclusive Offer for The Points Guy Readers,” then you’ve activated the deal. The sale is capped at 500 tickets and is subject to other fine print. Sale itineraries must include outbound travel on SQ Flight 31 from SFO and on either SQ Flight 32 or SQ Flight 34 on the return leg to SFO.
It’s our first time trying a TPG-only deal in the Aviation newsletter. Let us know what you think — if it’s successful, it could lead to more newsletter-only deals in the future.
Until next time …
