Virgin Australia Adds Style to Its New Business Class Cabin
Travelers flying to and from Australia now have an excellent new option for business class travel. After a lengthy delay, Virgin Australia unveiled its new business class cabin for its 777-300ER aircraft on its Facebook page. The first aircraft equipped with the new cabin will be flown on the airline's Los Angeles (LAX) to Sydney (SYD) route, which means flyers based in the US have a great chance to try out this impressive new product.
When you want to get up and stretch your legs, you can walk over to the well-stocked bar for a mid-flight cocktail or hot drink. An onboard bar is commonplace in the business class cabins on Emirates, Korean Air and Qatar's A380s, but it's unusual — and awesome — to see one on a 777. The in-flight dining selections are chosen by Luke Mangan, an Australian celebrity chef who has opened several restaurants in Australia and Asia.
The cabin is arranged in a reverse herringbone configuration and employs a stylish dark and light contrasting theme, a characteristic typical of Virgin. The seat itself is similar to American Airlines' new business class seat manufactured by B/E Aerospace, but Virgin's application is more aesthetically appealing with sleek black leather and fabric. Besides the sharp look, the seats convert into lie-flat beds that measure 80," which is just as long as a twin-size bed.
The IFE screen measures in at 18", making it the largest business class screen on a route between the US and Australia. This seat will surely be one of the best places to be while flying on the almost 15 hour transpacific route, and is enhanced even further by thoughtful touches such as including an extra pillow on the seat.
