Former United CEO Jeff Smisek was fired last September, and since then, it's been a very interesting few months for the airline's executive team. United selected Oscar Munoz to replace Smisek, but shortly after taking the reigns, Munoz suffered a significant heart attack, and the airline replaced him with an interim CEO. Munoz announced that he would be returning as soon as possible, and United continued to make some progress in the meantime.

United's acting CEO, Brett J. Hart.

Well, last night news broke that Munoz underwent a heart transplant. United has yet to share any details about his recovery, but the airline stated yesterday that Munoz was expected to return either in late Q1 (likely March) or in early Q2 (likely April). Unfortunately, there isn't any info to share beyond that, but we wish Oscar a very speedy recovery!
