Six Senses Telluride slated to open in 2028
One of the most luxurious brands under IHG Hotels & Resorts is set to make its U.S. mountain perch debut.
Six Senses Telluride is slated to open in 2028, IHG announced Monday. The 77-room and 24-residence Colorado venue is set to be IHG's first luxury resort and residential property in the Mountain West region of North America. The property will sit just above Telluride in Mountain Village in a box canyon surrounded by the San Juan Mountains — a lofty brand for lofty mountain peaks, one might say.
A pedestrian gondola connects Mountain Village to historic Telluride in just 13 minutes, and the resort will be a 7-mile ride from Telluride Regional Airport (TEX), a 68-mile drive from the better-served Montrose Regional Airport (MTJ) and a 387-mile drive from Denver International Airport (DEN).

The all-year property will be a stunner for those looking for a ski getaway in winter or to soak in nature in spring and summer. Six Senses Telluride is also the latest in IHG's ultraluxury brand liftoff in the Americas, which includes the soon-to-open Regent Santa Monica Beach in Southern California. For Six Senses, specifically, IHG has upcoming U.S. openings slated for the Napa region of California and the islands of South Carolina.
Six Senses La Sagesse opened earlier this year in Grenada, and Six Senses Grand Bahama in the Bahamas and Six Senses Xala on the Pacific coast of Mexico are in development. IHG acquired Six Senses and Regent in recent years in a push to provide ultraluxury brand offerings above the company's namesake InterContinental Hotels & Resorts brand.
Back in Colorado, the Six Senses development team is planning to continue the brand theme of soaking into the surrounding setting of each property — something TPG has noticed in visits to the brand's properties in Rome and Thailand.
"Becoming an active part of the community is hugely important to us and so where better to begin our North American mountain adventure than Telluride, with the global sophistication of Mountain Village and eclectic old-world nature of the town below," Six Senses CEO Neil Jacobs said in a statement. "Having lived in the Colorado Rockies in the 1980s, I can attest to the mountain environment lending itself to the expression of our values around wellness and sustainable development today."

Guest rooms, family rooms and suites are expected to feature natural materials that nod to the local surroundings and history, with local stone and cedar siding. The 24 branded residences will range from two to five bedrooms.
Guests and residents can expect services like a ski concierge and on-site experience teams to give the best tips for hiking, rafting and destination dining in the area. Restaurants and bars slated for Six Senses Telluride include a specialty restaurant, an omakase restaurant, a rooftop pool venue (expected to be the only one of its kind in Telluride) and a speakeasy.
Of course, this is Six Senses we are talking about, so health and wellness are tantamount to the guest experience. Six Senses Spa Telluride will feature a hammam, cryotherapy and ancient healing traditions incorporating sound and human touch.
In short: If you arrived stressed, we're almost certain you won't be by checkout.
