Here's a look at the coolest new hotel openings around the world in July, from a historic, high society palace in Paris to a gets-the-job-done Four Points in peak-season Alaska.
1. The Westin Sarasota
Location: Sarasota, Florida
Number of Rooms: 255
Three Interesting Facts: 1. Located in downtown Sarasota just across the bay from Lido Key, the new Westin is part of a two-tower development, which includes a 141-room luxury condo that's been under construction since 2014. 2. While the views across Sarasota Bay and the Gulf of Mexico are idyllic, this is a marina resort so you won't find a lush poolscape meandering down to the beach — the pool's on the roof —something to keep in mind if you're looking for that typically tropical Florida experience. 3. But don't be dissuaded. The property looks beautiful, bright, airy and modern, with high ceilings, floor-to-celling windows and seas of crisp tile. And opening rates are low so you can save your precious Starpoints for a rainy day.

2. The Loren at Pink Beach
Location: Bermuda

Three Interesting Facts: 1. The Loren's opening is historic, the first new luxury property to open in Bermuda in 45 years. 2. Located along Pink Beach, the hotel sits on the island's south shore, less than 20 minutes from L.F. Wade International Airport (BDA). Anyone who's spent time traveling in the Caribbean and endured long airport-to-resort drives knows what a time saver that can be. Flights from East Coast gateways like Atlanta, Boston, Philly and New York all arrive in the mid-afternoon, so every minute saved counts. 3. Thanks to the island's colonial heritage, many resorts here can be stodgy. The Loren takes a different approach in design and identity, from free Wi-Fi and Bluetooth-compatible speakers to the rooms' neutral interiors (all have terraces) and lobby's dramatic open spiral staircase.

3. Hôtel de Crillon
Location: Paris

Three Interesting Facts: 1. This Rosewood-branded property is historic — it originally opened in 1909 at the Place de la Concorde — and reopens this month after four years of renovations by Rosewood. 2. Of the 36 suites, two (together referred to as Les Grands Appartments) were designed by Karl Lagerfeld with ornate floor-to-ceiling woodwork, Baccarat chandeliers, soft mauve upholstery and bay windows overlooking the Eiffel Tower. 3. There are so many luxe amenities here, from single-estate teas at Jardin d'Hiver to the new grotto-like pool whose bottom is inlaid with 17,600 gold scales. Even shoes get the primo treatment; Hôtel de Crillon has an onsite "shoe care salon" by storied French leather brand Devoir de Court, where your kicks can get treatment to a polish with Delamain Cognac.

4. DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel New York — Times Square West
Location: New York City

Three Interesting Facts: 1. A new build, this DoubleTree stands 37 stories tall on 40th Street and 9th Avenue, close to the Port Authority, the Javits Center and the Lincoln Tunnel. 2. As a brand, DoubleTree isn't exactly associated with design excellence, but Hilton has done a nice job on the aesthetics, from the modern lobby to the clean white rooms furnished with stand-up showers, Broadway-inspired art and pops of turquoise. 3. On average, the rates at the DoubleTree Times Square West are about $100 less than those at the older DoubleTree (Actual) Times Square a few blocks away.

5. North Camp at The Resort at Paws Up
Location: Montana
Number of Rooms Glamping Tents: 6
Three Interesting Facts: 1. Located in Greenough, Montana, Paws Up pioneered the glamping trend back in 2005. North Camp is a new resort-within-a-resort featuring the largest tented accommodations in North America. 2. Of the six tents, four are two-bedroom and two are three-bedroom — you read that right, it's a tent with three bedrooms. In keeping with the glamping model, floors are heated, bathrooms are en-suite with running hot and cold water, and camp chefs and butlers tend to your every need. 3. Paws Up's active program is robust, offering everything from guided wilderness hikes and canoeing down the Black River to "geocaching" scavenger hunts and photography walks.

6. Four Points Anchorage
Location: Anchorage, Alaska

Three Interesting Facts: 1. August and September are high season in Alaska, with long, warm days and regular infusions of cruisers. The state doesn't offer a ton of points-hotel options, so it's good to have a new one in this Four Points. 2. Starwood/Marriott must see the value in Alaska because a new Four Points opened in Juneau in April of this year. 3. As is typical of the Four Points brand, the hotel will have free Wi-Fi and complimentary local beer and snacks at the Managers' Receptions on Wednesday nights.

Price: This property technically isn't bookable yet, but for comparison's sake, the Four Points Juneau is showing rooms from $234 or 10,000 Starpoints per night in July. 7. The Duniway Portland, a Hilton Hotel
Location: Portland, Oregon
Number of Rooms: 327
Three Interesting Facts: 1. The Duniway Portland is a Hilton hotel, or to be more specific, part of an existing Hilton hotel — the company decided to split off one of the towers from its main property and turn it into The Duniway, which now features an upscale renovation accented with leather, suede, plants and wildlife prints. 2. The hotel's namesake is Abigail Duniway, an Oregonian journalist and women's rights activist. 3. The tower's old restaurant has been redone as Jackrabbit by California chef Chris Cosentino. The signature dish: rabbit, obviously, braised with rosemary, carrots and 80 cloves of garlic.

8. Sir Joan Hotel
Location: Ibiza, Spain

The Sir Joan Hotel marks the first property in Spain for the brand, an Amsterdam-based boutique collection with a strong urban design aesthetic — the rooms here have metal-framed canopy beds, floating concrete sinks, textured glass dividers and Bluetooth speakers. 2. Located in the island's old town, the hotel fronts the marina and is within walking distance to Talamanca Beach, restaurants and nightlife. 3. Activities are offered via the brand's Sir Experiences, and include locally focused enrichments like ceramics workshops, moonlight lagoon adventures and magnetic meditation.

9. Gran Hotel Manzana Kempinski La Habana
Location: Havana, Cuba

Three Interesting Facts: 1. The Cuban hotel scene has spent time playing catch up since restrictions were eased last year for American travelers. This new Kempinski property in Havana is one of its first true luxury hotels in the area, featuring reliable Wi-Fi, modern fuchsia-accented white rooms and a sexy rooftop pool. 2. The hotel is housed in the Manzana de Gomez, a historic shopping arcade built between 1894 and 1917 with rows and rows of stately neoclassical colonnades. 3. The place to hang out is the Evocacion Tobacco Lounge, a handsome spot ringed by balconies overlooking Havana's Capitol building — there's even an award-winning cigar sommelier on staff to help you select a cigar to go with the bar's stock of aged Cuban rum.

Three Interesting Facts: 1. Unlike Nobu's Malibu outpost, this property falls under the Nobu Hotel subset, which includes properties in Miami, Manila and Las Vegas. 2. With its jagged glass exterior, the hotel strikes an interesting architectural silhouette in Shoreditch, one of London's buzziest neighborhoods — if you're doing any serious eating or drinking in London, you'll find yourself in the area. Nobu's East-meets-West rooms, furnished with bar carts, neutral tones and globe pendants, make serene urban havens to crash after an epic meal. 3. And of course, there's a Nobu restaurant, which seats 240 between the dining room and stacked terraces.
