Frontier unveils 15-route expansion, with service from 3 new or returning cities
This fall, Frontier Airlines will fly to two new cities, and make its return to a third. Starting in October, the budget carrier will launch nonstop service from Richmond International Airport (RIC) in Virginia and Corpus Christi International Airport (CRP) in Texas.
Plus, the Denver-based airline will return to Tulsa, Oklahoma, for the first time in three years.
It's part of a larger 15-route expansion the ultra-low-cost carrier unveiled Tuesday, which spans a large swath of the country. Frontier's new routes will see the carrier do more flying out of Texas, New York, Chicago, Missouri and its Denver International Airport (DEN) home base.

"With new destinations in Texas and Virginia, our return to Tulsa, Oklahoma, and new routes between several of our top cities, now is a better time than ever for consumers to give Frontier a try," Josh Flyr, the airline's vice president of network and operations design, said in a statement announcing the news.

Frontier's 15 new routes
Each of Frontier's new routes will launch in mid-October. In most cases, the airline will fly the service between once and a handful of times each week.
Here's the full rundown of the 15 new routes:
| Route | Launches | Frequency |
|---|---|---|
Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) to Omaha's Eppley Airfield (OMA) | Oct. 10 | Twice weekly |
ATL-RIC | Oct. 17 | Twice weekly |
Charleston International Airport (CHS) in South Carolina to Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) | Oct. 9 | Twice weekly |
CRP-DEN | Oct. 9 | Twice weekly |
DEN to New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) | Oct. 8 | Three times weekly |
DEN to Tulsa International Airport (TUL) | Oct. 12 | Twice weekly |
DEN-RIC | Oct. 19 | Twice weekly |
DFW to El Paso International Airport (ELP) in Texas | Oct. 8 | Three times weekly |
DFW to Tucson International Airport (TUS) in Arizona | Oct. 9 | Twice weekly |
Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) to Chicago's Midway International Airport (MDW) | Oct. 7 | Four times weekly |
JFK to Chicago's O'Hare International Airport (ORD) | Oct. 8 | Four times weekly |
Kansas City International Airport (MCI) to Tampa International Airport (TPA) | Oct. 11 | Weekly |
Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) to San Antonio International Airport (SAT) | Oct. 10 | Three times weekly |
Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) to Santa Ana, California's John Wayne Airport (SNA) | Oct. 9 | Twice weekly |
St. Louis Lambert International Airport (STL) to TPA | Oct. 11 | Weekly |
Frontier's Denver base was the biggest winner in this expansion, with four new routes in all.
Its two new routes from ATL came after the carrier announced significant growth plans at the world's busiest airport.
Meanwhile, the budget carrier conntinued growing in New York. A year after Frontier launched service from JFK, the addition of O'Hare and Denver will give the airline 10 routes from the major East Coast hub, as shown on the below map from aviation analytics firm Cirium.

Of the 15 flights the carrier announced Tuesday, most are entirely new for Frontier, with three exceptions: It last flew between Denver and Tulsa in 2022 — which was the last year the carrier flew from the Oklahoma airport.
And, it previously operated MCI-TPA and PHX-SAT flights last decade, ending in 2018.

Bottom line
Frontier did not announce any route cuts Tuesday, but we should note, the airline is flying a leaner schedule over the coming months, amid industrywide concerns about travel demand.
In the months of August and September, its total departures will be down more than 11% compared with last year, according to Cirium data.
