Earn up to 50,000 United miles when you buy or lease a new Jaguar vehicle
If you're shopping for a European luxury vehicle, you may not instinctively stop by a Jaguar showroom. The brand's reputation has fallen in the last two decades, but the ability to earn 50,000 United MileagePlus miles when you buy or lease a new Jaguar vehicle may be enough to bring you into a showroom.
Let's dive in and see how you can maximize this offer.

How to earn 50,000 United miles buying or leasing a Jaguar
Many MileagePlus members received a promotional email titled, "Your chance to drive home with 50,000 miles." From the email, you can click "learn more." Alternatively, you can visit this landing page for the offer, where you'll need to enter your name and MileagePlus number.
You'll then need to enter a variety of personal details. Enter these details and you should get a voucher for 50,000 bonus miles when you purchase or lease a new Jaguar vehicle. When filling out the form, you can also ask for a local Jaguar dealership to contact you.
This offer is open to active United MileagePlus members who reside in the U.S. and purchase or lease an eligible new Jaguar vehicle on or before June 30 through a participating authorized Jaguar retailer.

The downsides of this offer
Anyone buying a car should negotiate the sale price. But with this offer, you might lose your negotiation leverage.
With a vehicle shortage during the coronavirus pandemic, it's been hard to buy cars, especially at competitive prices. Some dealerships have even been putting surcharges on the manufacturer's suggested retail price of cars.
And I suspect dealerships will be less inclined to negotiate on the price when you have this MileagePlus offer. But you can certainly try!
Kelley Blue Book is a great resource to look up a fair purchase price for a car. For example, a 2022 Jaguar E-PACE P250 with no optional equipment has an MSRP of $42,045. The fair market price for the car is around $40,500 in my ZIP code.
If the dealership is unwilling to negotiate the car's sale price with the MileagePlus offer, you may want to check the rate without the offer. In my case, the fair purchase price is roughly $1,500 less than the MSRP of the car. Meanwhile, TPG values 50,000 MileagePlus miles at $605.
So, consider your options before assuming that earning 50,000 United miles is the best deal available.

Bottom line
Most MileagePlus members will pass on this offer. But if you're in the market for a Jaguar, see if you can use this offer to earn some bonus United miles on your new car purchase or lease. However, remember that it's always good to call multiple dealerships and see which location has the most competitive price and your preferred model.
